thats not a bad score at all. I knew person who got a 230 graduated 2013, did some observerships, worked hard and just recently matched into some surgery program!

I would first like to congratulate you on a great score of 237 & also passing your CS as it is not easy to accomplish.

Just some first hand experience I've seen in the hospital I'm currently doing rotations at in regards to residency.

Currently there are some new residents who have started.

5 in Internal Med: Step 1 scores ranging from 220-250 with one student who had failed step 1 once.

7 in Family Med: scores ranging from 210-240 with some failures.

Have not had the opportunity to speak with residents in other residency positions.

Hope this sheds some light on the opportunities you have before you.

Moral of the story: 237 is a pretty good score & do some observerships to increase your chances of matching if you're very concerned. Lastly, try not to listen to the negative comments made by others as it will not help you in your future.

good luck & stay positive!

Thanks for the input . I am sorry but was demotivated by the wrong people . Are there any easier way of getting observerships ? I am trying the routine emailing thing but it is not working out for the last few months . Thank you .

nope no East shortcuts... Try mailing them...

You can try allegheny general hospital for observership...

And yeah please write down your step1 experience and study method and whole process it will help us all!

Thanks in advance and best of luck

Thanks for the help .
My step1 preparation was similar to the whole lot.
i prepared for around 6-7 months along with my internship ;so morning i had to go to the hospital and evening I used to sit and prepare .
first 2 months i read the kaplan lecture notes ,then i did few chapters from Goljan and found it overwhelming so switched to Pathoma .
I used to skim through first aid during my initial prep time just to familiar with the book and to know the high yield topics.
Then i started with kaplan q bank for a month and couldn't finish it due to stress at work . Did around 75% of Qbank with 72% aggregate score.
Then started my real prep with Uworld .Did each block timed tutor mode system wise along with first aid .I annotated the things missing in first aid from uworld .Did my first nbme15 after completing uworld 4 weeks before the exam got 226 . My target was 250 but due to time constraints I couldn't postpone my exam . Worked hard for next one month revised uworld once and first aid twice in 2.5 weeks and gave an nbme16 and it was 234. And last nbme 3 days before the exam 241 .
Real deal I found it easier than uworld but tougher than nbme's .
I screwed badly in behavioural sciences and i think that's where my score dipped.Overall i was happy after the exam because i was leaving to the US next day for the first time
