Biochemistry Porphyria and barbiturates and alcohol

Why are barbiturates CI in Porphyria?
Is it because they are inducers of cytochrome P 450? In that case wont other P 450 inducers be Contra indicated?

Also if inducers are CI then why is acute alcohol exaggerating episodes of porphyris?

hypoxia ,Barbiturate and alcohol induce the enzyme aminolevilinic acid synthase

so downstream more porphobilinogen formed which exacerbates porphyria.

also just for info -heme and glucose inhibit ALA synthase.
