Wink Which of the 5 Sensory Modalities?

A 7 year old boy playing and patting the pet at home while drinking a fizzy drink. His mother is baking chocolate cookies and the TV is playing a song from American Idle. Which of the following sensory modalities is related directly to the cerebral cortext without relaying in the child's thalamus?

The olfactory nerve goes through the cribriform plate without relaying the thalamus so the correct answer is C

the rest do and have special relaying parts in the thalamus. also another interesting fact is that the olfactory nerves can regenerate themselves!
