The most important resources for step 1 are....kaplan lectures and videos...fa...uworld
u can add brs physiology...and substitute neuroanat with hy neuroanat and pathology with pathoma/goljan.

pathoma/goljan? which one?
well what i have understood from reading numerous forums is that goljan is definetly for those who have lot of time for their exam, have a good retaining capacity, and also have the patience to revise it for atleast 2-3times... pathoma is simple and sweet...it is enough to understand the basic stuff and is definetly for the opposite of those i mentioned above...it doesnt mean u have to read it only once but it is comparitively easier to revise..of course goljan is considered as the standard but i have seen many people score fantastic marks in their step 1 and those who scored low may have lost thos important marks either because they dint revise stuff again or rushed with kaplan so as to start with uworld and not because they chose pathoma over goljan....is what i feel!!!!!

when to do fa?
most of the people recommend to start fa at the earliest possible because when u r doing a subject and if u try to read the same part in fa u can easily understand the small and brief sentences quickly and grasp them and also jot down points from kaplan for ur understanding....if u do fa after a first read of kaplan u may not remember the very first subject u read properly and those brief sentences may actually kill u so that u have to go back and refer ur book....so it s best if u get familiar with it from the start....

qbanks??
best to start after a first read of kaplan lectures is what ppl generally say...some high scorers have started them very early...cuz u must get used to the questioning pattern...so u can start with one qbank along with ur first reading and do the second after u finish it....preferably kaplan qbank the first time and uworld after u finish 1 reading of kaplan atleast....thre is also usmle rx but the questioning pattern is very easy and ppl say that it makes reading fa very easy....

nbme self assesment...when to do them????
it is preferred to do all of them...online!!!!!!....one nbme just after u finish ur first read of kaplan...nd the next weeks before ur xam.....like before 6wks then 4weeks and so on....book ur date only after u get ur desired score in atleast 2 nbme forms

fa...which edition???
of course get the latest edition cuz we tend to buy prev years kaplan books and follow old lectures.....so fa has all the updated stuff tested in the recent exams so it is very much advised to get the latest one...

study system wise or subject wise????
really that is ur wish....some ppl get bored to read subject wise and find it fun to do organ wise.....i am personally doing it subject wise....it doesnt really affect ur score!!! thy r just based on ur priority....

where to get the kaplan series???
i personally bought the xeroxed notes from a bookstore and videos from friends....im sure its not that difficult.....

how to start???
u can try the zum zum method...just google it....it may help u.

i dnt knw if u r working or can allot 10-14hrs of dedicated study everyday....so decide ur plan accordingly!!!

hope this helps...srry for such a lengthy post....dnt waste ur time searching in this forum for answers !!! cuz i personally did that (trust m...i read hundereds of step1 experiences; how to study etc) and all of pretty much have given the same advice....

This was told to me by one Doc here only which i shared with you...Hope this might give you an idea about how to start....Gud luck
