27 yr jehovans witness is in labour n bleeding heavily.she refuses al transfusion n signs a refusal to consent indicatg tat she understands she may die witout blood.wen she loses consciousness her husband says 2 giv blood n he wil sign consent.wat shod u tel him?
a.honour his wish
b.giv bllod nly if pt is unconcious
c.cannot giv blood

C) .. you cannot give the blood to the pt as she said no in the first place.

Option A states to honor HIS (the husband's) wish.

i will go with C...she signed the consent when she was conscious refusing transfusion if she will bleed to death,so she is not a competent patient.therefore husbands consent is of no use.

answer should be 'c'.. refusal to consent here means refusal to consent to get blood transfusion if required and not 'waiver' to make decisions..

It's C...The patient is adult and there is a consent already signed by her.moreover she said no...
Only exceptions are wen there is no consent form,nothing being said and the patient arrived in such a condition that it was not possible to ask about it,,eg unconscious ,then the husband a can decide...other wise no..patients autonomy is always preferred even when the doc knows it's against thier health benefits.
