Congratss!!!
Can you give me some advice on which sources I should use... And Whether the exam was equally divided for all the subjects or was focused on few topics more than the others...?

Thanks!

Thank you. My situation might be different from you guys. I am a >10 years foreign graduate and used to practice radiology for 2-3 years in my own country.
I prepared in a 7-8 months period. Read the Kaplan notes (just the books) and at the same time the first aid.
I think what`s really important in this exam is that the huge volume of material in kaplan shouldn`t distract you from acing the first aid. The more you know every bit of first aid at the end, the better you`re gonna perform in the exam!

Thanx so much. Honestly I expected more of my score. When I got out of the exam I was pretty confident that I`m gonna have a good score! But you never know, as It`s a 7 hour challenge.
Anyway:
1- Do a lot of test (I did USworld)
2- Don`t forget to ace the First Aid. Take your extra notes from kaplan
or other resources to FA if you can ( I didn`t but that would help a lot)
3- in your final review (5-6 days) which is the best of your short term memory span at its best, put your focus on FA.

Good luck!

I think it all depends on how fresh you are on the whole material.
If it`s been a long time since your graduation (as it was in my case)
you have to start from the scratch and read more detailed references (like kaplan notes) and then start to cram the subjects by reading first aid.
If not, then you would probably be fine just by doing tests and reading FA.
I can`t tell how distribution was, but don`t forget you must know the basic things better: Physiology, Pathology, Pharmacoloy.
Wish you good luck!

Thank you docdexter,
You`re totally right. I really needed a 99. As I wanted to get into my own field which is Radiology.
I got a 244 on my step 2 as well!
So generally I`m happy with my scores!

Actually I never took NBMEs. Neither for S1 nor S2.
My personal reason is that I had put enough time and energy for preparing
for the exam. You`ll reach the maximum level of your comptenecy in the last 2 weeks before the exam, so this is the time you can get a realistic evaluation of your knowledge on tests such as NBME. Buttt that would cost you spending a whole day without getting any detailed feedback, which I don`t like.
I did UW sim exam 3 and 2 weeks before the exam and got 245 and 242.

Thank you. As I am a >10 years foreign graduate I decided to do step 2 first. I thought the material was more familiar compared to step 1.
It took me about 6 months to do step2.
For step 1 I prepared in a 7-8 months period. Read the Kaplan notes (just the books) and the first aid almost togther.
At the same time I did USW tests. I flagged the tests I wanted to review and reviewed them at the last 20 days.
I reviewed the whole Kaplan notes and first aid once again and for the final review as much as I could from Kaplan in 12 and the whole FA in 5 days.

First of all, congratulations!
You said you needed a 99 for Rads - I hope you know that program directors are now forced to look at the three-digit score, and you have a really good one.
Also, please share your experience! If you find the time, it would be very helpful if you wrote a detailed thread on your experience (preparation length, material, which subject you started with, any useful tips, how many hours per day and days per week you studied, and so on).
I would love to read it!

Lastly, did you work during your preparation time or did you take time off?

Again, Congratulations on your score!

Thank you so much val7,
Actually I studied for 8 months, average 8-10 hours/day.
I wasn`t working at that period and just put all my efficient time for studying.
I started with Kaplan notes physiology, then anatomy, pathology, immunology, biochem, microbiology,.... About 30 pages /day first reading.
At the same time I did about one block of timed/unused Usmle world test each 2days.
After each discipline I tried to read similar subjects in first aid.
Then for second time I reviewed 55-60 pages a day of kapln/first aid )both together) and still working on usworld like before.
in days 18 to 5 before the exam, I reviewed as much highlighted kaplan notes as I could ( couldnt do all of them!).
In the last 5 days I reviewed the whole FA.
in the last 18 days I also reviewed all the tests I had flagged in US world (about 1000 out of total 2100).
I wrote some notes of highly volatile points on sticky papers during my last time reading (from kaplan and FA) and put them all on my study room wall.
At the day before exam I took a look at all of my sticky notes.
Hope it helps and good luck in your exam!

Thx so much.
Actually it`s a short time since they have changed the way they calculate 2 digits. So we see no more 99s from now on! But it doesn`t matter as 2 digits are not reported to the programs or authorities anymore. All that matters is the 3 digit score.
Hope it helps.

on the old scale, a 99 was 229+
so since he scored 240, it is equivalent to a 99 on the old scale (however the new scale calls it a 85).
