Idea! Using FA to filter out High Yield info from Kaplan!

Would it be a good idea to watch the Kaplan Videos with the Kaplan lecture notes open in front of me and when it's time to review after the video just open up that section in first aid and see what topics are covered in FA and then just read that part from the kaplan notes alongside first aid? I could add any helpful info from the lectures notes into FA and anything that's not covered by FA I could skip from the lecture notes.

I would do this for all topics except phys/path for which I would use larger resources. Reading the Kaplan books is just too hard for me and takes up too much of my time, I suck at reading paragraph form books and prefer point form and bullet form books so using the videos with FA and using the notes as a reference seems a lot more efficient.

Some of the kaplan books like Micro/Pharm are definitely my style of reading so those might work out better.

Physio/Anatomy books are killing me though, I just cannnn't read paragraphs haha.

To further explain things, I just feel like Kaplan has too much information that doesn't need to be there.

It's good for helping understand, but after watching the vids I already understand and I just want a resource to memorize the main important points from.

EX:

TOPIC
- point 1
- point 2
- point 3

Kaplan is kind of like

blah blah blah TOpic blah blah blah point 1 blah blah blah blah point 2

I have a hard time picking out main points and committing them to memory like this. I feel like I kind of just waste my time reading through so much filler info before getting to the main point of what they are trying to say.

The blah blah blah part of KLN is to give you some background and to explain the concepts.

You don't need to memorize them, but you need to read them to understand what's going on.

After finishing KLN chapter, go to FA and annotate and then FA will be your only book later on for review and you'll then avoid the scatter in KLN.

I also recommend you look up the ZumZum method

The problem is I feel like after watching the videos I already have the understanding of the concept and all I need from the book is the main points to quickly recap what I learned in the video.

After watching the video I feel like so much of the book is just filler and it distracts me from taking home the main points while reading. If I were to come back to my kaplan book say a month from now it would take sooo much time to read through the filler info. Whereas if it was just the main details in point form I could use the book to just quickly recap and hammer home the main points.

I've seen the ZumZum method and I have seen the Taus Method and a ton of methods haha, seems like everyone has their own way though.

The reason I am not annotating Kaplan into FA too heavily is because I feel like I will overdo the annotating and after doing Uworld I'll just have way too much annotations in the book and it will become a textbook rather then a high yield quick recap.

I know a lot of AMG's and all of them stick to the method of only annotating UW into FA and nothing else unless absolutely necessary.

Seems like everyone on the IMG boards goes the extra mile for everything, maybe it's just what we need since we aren't AMG's or maybe we just stress too much and overkill things?
