Default Q. Lab values in sideroblas. anemia & ACD

Q. Can anybody pls give explanation/reasons :

1. why decreased transferrin or TIBC in Anemia of chronic disease?(FA 2014, pg387)

2. why increased iron, Normal TIBC and increased ferritin in sideroblastic anemia?.(FA2014, p383).

In Anemia of chronic disease ,there is plenty of stored iron however, iron can't exit the liver(stores) ,,,,so Utilization is impaired

TIBC shouldn't increase coz u r rich ,,,u have much iron but u can't use it . Inflammatory proteins closes the IRON pores so iron can't exit the liver.

In IDA,the stores are depleted . So TIBC is increased to compensate.

PATHOMA ,PATHOMA ,AND PATHOMA
