Stick with it... Believe me! The test is going to be that way so you have to prepare for that. It's ok to get low scores now but not on test day.

Smile questions based on the vlog

Hey Dr. Laura, I had a few questions related to your vlog.

1) What did you mean that after completing Uworld one time, you did it again 30 percent? You did 30 percent of Uworld the second time? Or you completed the entire qbank one more time

2) What are the advantages of writing down the page number on a white sheet of paper, when all the references are in the index. Perhaps it's something I could do as well

3) When you reviewed Uworld the second time, did you go through each question with first aid again? Or did you just read the explanations the second time around, without using first aid with each question.

Thank you for taking out your time in helping other students

1) I did UW once completely and then 30% of the whole bank a second time. I averaged over 80% that second time.

2) I would just write it down because sometimes it was 20 different pages and if you don't write it down then you lose time going back to the index over and over again. But I would throw out the sheet of paper once it got full.. Nothing magical

3) I just read the explanations from UW the second time. If I really didn't understand it then I would go to FA.

I have failed my step before 1 time. I am going to re-apply for my exam again hopefully by MAY. I didnot do UW properly last time(just read the educational objectives at the bottom page and dint even finish uw completely), i forcussed doing Kaplan Q-bank and i think that was my defect.

Coz i dint know much about how to prepare for usmle.

But now, i understood the formula.
its KLN + FA+UW+nbme .. am i right???

i am going through KLN all over again and i have done videos of most of the imp. subjects.

I have already done OFFLINE UW subject wise 50% of it completed and taken extensive notes.

was thinking to buy ONLINE UW and complete the rest subject-wise.

do you think wat am doing is right?
hope to see your reply soon
thanks
Hello!

I'm sorry to hear about the test but I'm sure you will pass it with flying colors this time. I would definitely recommend doing UW online, (never do it offline) timed, and random. I don't think that doing it subject wise helps. That's just my personal opinion though. How did you do the kaplan qbank last time? You have the right formula so keep that up. Did fail by a lot or a little? You need to do 100% of the UW online!

3- whats the purpose of doing uw-random?? if its for assessing were i stand dont you think nbme will be better??

i should have never done Kaplan Qbank
thanks
1) If you do it correctly yes, it is easier but trickier so you have to read carefully.

2) No what you have to do is get used to answering these types of questions and get used to being timed. Knowing every UW question by memory is not the answer.

3) You should do it random so that you get accustomed to doing questions this way. The days of the test your mind has to go from anatomy to microbiology to biochemistry. You understand? You have to be able to do this and do it quickly. NBME is what you should use for assessment but UW prepares you for the test as you go.

Hope this helps!
