Default need your opinion, reached a deadline

hey everyone, I hope all of you are doing well.

So I am preparing for my step 1 and I have done multiple nbmes but never scored well, my highest being 211, and I did an nbme 13 recently and score 200.

I got a total of 56 mistakes. I feel my problem is that I see questions which I have no idea what the answer is for, especially anatomy Q's

I really don't know what to do anymore, its very distressing to keep regressing in terms of score.

I hope someone can shed light onto what I should do to boost my grade.

I am thinking about buying first aid Rx question bank to answer, keep in mind my exam is on the 24th of January.

Please help me out with what I should do, and thanks to everyone in advance!

Thank you for getting back to me!

Well, I have done FA with some kaplan videos, not all though. and I have finished uworld once but not twice, I learn most by seeing new questions so I did kaplan and almost all of my scores were 70-75%.
So I don't know what happens to me when I get to nbmes.

Also I don't feel like I lack understanding, when I answer I am confused between two answers or I literally wouldn't have a clue about the answer.

I am aiming for nothing less than 235, so in 3 weeks how can I do that? (Keep in mind I have rotations)

Thanks for everyone who helps me out! And beat of luck with all of your studies.

After you finish Uworld once, repeat the questions you got them wrong. I heard some friends saying that Rx qbank is not really helpful.

Hey dont worry at all a 200 on nbme 13 means you obviously need more review!

1. Forget about rx, do uworld again as maybe you forgot its content or didnt take notes

2. Review physio, anatomy from kaplan quickly or maybe only the wrak topics like cvs, resp and read whats written in fa about it.

3, review pathoma again if you did that or any other source of patho

Sept 24 is about 2 weeks away !! Do a block of uworld everyday along with fa

You should do fa twice during this 2 week period.

I know it can be scary, but I suggest you stop doing NBMEs altogether. They are mostly to practice timing, and it seems you have the timing down, so doing any more will take time away from what you do need. I would go to any question bank of your choice and do it in timed tutor mode. Each time you get a wrong answer log it in a book. Include the reason why you got it wrong and a single sentence on the teaching point of that question. It should look something like this:

Question ID; Reason wrong; topic; teaching point (thing to remember for next time); preventable?

That last column - preventable - is you thinking whether or not you could have gotten it right if you had considered the question differently.

After a couple of days you will begin to see exactly what your real problems are and analyzing - for the preventable ones - how not to fall into the same type of trap. I don't think that a couple of weeks will be enough to substantially increase your knowledge, but it is more than enough time to increase your test-taking skills.

Good luck!

Hello,
I read your story and here is my suggestion. Looking to your recent NBME score of 200, I believe you still have some work to do. Pretend that the average NBME score of 250 is ideal, then you have done about 80% of the work and there is still 20% more work to do. Given this, and the fact that you have rotations, I would suggest to not take the risk of setting for the exam on Sep 24th - very little time left. I would suggest to simply ignore this deadline and reschedule the exam.

Cheers,
Nimat Saba
