Question Silly Mistakes and Changing to Incorrect!

Hi guys... need ur help.. very much confused regarding preparation.. dont know wen i should schedule a date.. but wanna give it soon.. now fully saturated. Here my scores-
nbme 7 - 219 (yday)
nbme 6 - did offline, got 35 ques incorrect
nbme 11- did offline, got 30 ques incorrect
uswa 1 - 221, uswa- 216

Problem is that i change my answers from correct to incorrect in d last moment . I dont know wat to do about dis. In many ques i did silly mistakes, like not reading all d options in a hurry. This is very frustrating thing that u knew d answer but got it incorrect just coz of ur stupid mistake.
In nbme 7 i got 40 ques incorrect out of which 13-14 were incorrect due to my silly mistake n changing d answer in last moment.
Please guide regarding dis. Should i give exam in a week?
Thanks in advance

Default Be careful....

Dont do silly mistakes as that could impact the score so badly.... The problem is when we do UWorld, we get trained to the question type(tricky ones, confusing ones, etc). We tend to do the same for NBME as most of the questions are straight fwd. Many people get the straight fwd questions right... if you make the same questions wrong, then your score will go down.

Hope that helps

Good Luck

Hmmm... Looks to me like it's a recall problem.

I read in an article before that if you're choosing between two answers and ended up with the wrong one, it's a recall problem. (As opposed to, if your first reaction to the question was "what the hell?", which would be a knowledge base/acquisition problem.)

So, given that, my suggestion would be to give a quick run-through of your notes to jog your memory. Also, doing mcqs that aid in recall might help.

As to whether you're going to give the exam in a week, it depends... Are you willing to get a 219 (your current nbme score)? If not, you might want to wait until you start to get your desired score in the nbme.

You're very close right now... Just a couple more points. But it really depends on you. Just be careful not to lose your momentum when you decide to postpone your exam.

I think you are quite well prepared for this exam.

My advice:

1. Just go through your HY notes and/or USMLERx question bank (as it helps with the review of FA)
2. Once you mark your answer--DO NOT go back to that question ( instead use that time to read the questions properly. (Listen to Kaplan Behavioral science lecture by Dr. Doharty as to why you should not change your answer if you are not 100% sure about the answer)

DO NOT postpone your exams as you are best prepared for it NOW. Everyone makes makes silly mistakes but that's the nature of this beast!

I think you have to check the FA again in things you are weak in especially the basic concepts if you are not confidence enough don't go and if you postpone don't let your self sad like I did and it lowered my score it's all a tricks of the game

I think your doing pretty good.
But if you feel that you are not ready then try to read FA again and go over the questions you got wrong and see why you made that mistake and fix it...
Also, I know alot of us make the mistake by choosing a wrong answer the 2nd time when it was correct the first time. The best thing you can do is.. Try to read the question think of the answer and then look at the choices and pick the answer you already thought about. Don't change the answer unless you are 100 sure u were wrong the first time or read/understood the question wrong. Most of the time your first answers are the correct answers! Another thing you can do is... Just before you choose the 2nd answer ask yourself why that is MORE correct than the one that you just chose before.. If you can answer that then you know which one is right and why.
Good luck!

If your bad at behavioural Science then you might want to read the 100 cases most likely to see by conrad fischer. That might help!
