Don't give up. You can still raise that score. You're so close... Remember that the darkest hour of the night is just before dawn.

There's a member of this forum (shriman) who was able to raise his nbme score by 20 points after using DIT. But he emphasizes that he has already a solid foundation on the different subjects. So DIT easily helped him reach his peak.

I haven't tried it but so far feedback about that course is good.

You can see his comments on the thread "What to do in last four weeks" by flowerlady. (What to do in last four weeks)

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Don't loose hope!
You have studied this hard you can do it!!!
Just go over the incorrect uworld questions and see which questions you got wrong and why.. It's ok to spend a little extra time and realize your mistakes than spending the time stressing or trying to study more than not realizing the flaw. If you have studied for 8 weeks you did study but the flaw must be somewhere else (may be changing answers? or something else).. So take a little bit of time and figure it out and then continue studying (FA, uworld) or may be DIT like mentioned above.
Good luk!!

Don't give up yet! During your 8 weeks of prep, did you do a lot of questions? I haven't taken step yet, but I have found that doing questions and thoroughly reading explanations has helped me a lot. If i still feel like I don't understand after the explanation, then I look it up in a book on that subject. Hope that helps.

Hey don't worry I'm very hopeful you will be able to boost your score 20+ points with the right plan. You're breaking a 200 which is amazing. I had friends that failed their nbme's with a very low score, and then as their prep went on finally reached 200, and during the last few weeks brought it up even more.

You said you did DIT and uworld. How many times did you do uworld? once? more than once? Regardless, the one thing I would recommend is to save the whole DIT program for the very end of your prep. You want to be able to Finish DIT a week before your exam, and spend that last week reviewing first aid.

Also, are you going along with first aid when doing uworld? Def do that because it will help you visualize the pages/info when doing questions.

The most important thing is take nbmes and when reviewing topics after your nbme, focus on the topics you scored low in. The reason for this is because not every question on the step is weighted equally. So perhaps the questions/topics you get wrong could potentially be weighty questions so improving that aspect of your basic sciences could increase your score tremendously.

I hope this helps a lot.

You are still in that range...
Did you go over the questions you got wrong and check why you got them wrong and why you picked those answers?

I think somehow you still made progress. UWSA overpredicts by 10 points so 2 weeks ago your predicted score is really around 200 and now you're at roughly 210.

Maybe at this point, the rate of learning = rate of forgetting.

How to stop rate of forgetting:

Do 2 blocks of random, easy, and straightforward questions that train your recall like usmleRx qbank everyday. Random - so you get to cover ALL subjects. Easy - so you won't get overwhelmed, it won't take too much of your time, and you'll actually have fun! (Just do minimal notetaking. 1 block shouldn't take more than 30 mins of taking notes.)

This like just going through random flashcards in the morning and in the evening and should just take 2 - 3 hours of your day. It's only a supplement to your study schedule.

How to maximize rate of learning:

Suka is right. Be critical of the questions you got wrong on the UWSA and the NBMEs. Read on those concepts. Revise. Focus first on the weak areas.

I have seen people focusing on their weak areas doing wonders on their next nbmes.

Then, one whole pass of everything again. You can do DIT for a second time.

This is just my recommendation. Good luck! Keep us posted in your progress! We'll be glad to help!
