Default My Step 1 (Marathon) Experience

Hi Guys,*

I got my step 1 score recently and would like to share my experience which may help someone like me. I am a Caribbean medical student and I have completed my Basic Sciences. I studied for almost 10 months for my step 1. I wanted to be genuine about my self. My school had professors who is smart but could not explain concepts in a way to understand. Somehow I managed to pass the school exam and came back to Chicago to prepare for my step 1, where the nightmare started. I took an NBME and got 10!!!!!!!! I felt like kiling my self. I thought I know my stuff from the island but I was wrong.**

I decided to enroll the pass program and spent about 3 months. It was a good program but did not help me as it was too many students and it was like a roller coaster where students were keep coming to the same class and I couldn’t find a basic information.*

I was looking for a tutor who can teach me from the basic as I never learned anything before. With the help of god I found Dr. Roy through a forum. I met him at his office and explained my situation. He told me to take the 5 weeks live prep at medical legends where he teachs USMLE Step 1. I was not sure if I wanted to enroll the course cos I never heard about medical legends. Since they have 100% refund by 3rd day if you don’t like the course I decided to take a chance as I was helpless. Unbelievable…..The first day it self was an amazing lecture about basic pathology. He teaches from the basic as you don’t know anything. I still remember the first day of the lecture. He uses First Aid and Pathoma. He broke down every single concepts in a way even a street guy can understand. He is very knowledgeable person. He can see the face and tell if we understood or not. He will not move to the next topic without a complete understanding. It was a small class with 5 students. They don’t take more than 5 students per class in order to give personal attention. They have an amazing schedule.

After the 5 weeks of live lec I stayed back at their center to do Uworld for another 5 weeks. He even teaches how to handle questions. Everyone can do Uworld but there is a method he taught how to do Uworld which was mind blowing. I took NBME assessment exam as he told me. Basically he was with me till the day of the exam. He didn’t even charge anything after the 5 weeks live lec. I just paid for the 5 weeks live lec which was really really cheap. After the long battle I passed my step 1 with 221 ( I am really satisfied with this score knowing where I came from)

The reason I am writing this is to tell all the students out there like me not to give up. Caribbean students would understand me.

No. I'm sorry if been misunderstood. I want more info from other students of the program. I've got respect for Dr. Roy and his program. Not trying anything dishonest. I'm only trying to gain more info from past students.
