Default from where to start and how to start

i have just started my prep for step 1 .... started with kaplan biochemistry .... basically i can only study usmle books for just 3-4 hours daily considering my regular university classes of 3rd year and wards etc with course study ... the plan is to give step 1 next june/july ... possibly i have approximately 14-15 months remaining ..... need some core suggestions about how to manage my schedule with wards and classes going on ... how to use the kaplan series and goljan rr ....

You might want to look at these links:

http://www.usmle-forums.com/tags/Step-1-Starters.html
http://www.usmle-forums.com/tags/Ste...udy-Plans.html

Since your study plan is going to be spread for 14 months, expect that towards the end of your prep, you will more likely have forgotten what you have read in the first few months. My recommendation is this: once you have read a portion of kaplan, make a summary or your own reviewer. Do flashcards right then and there for hard-to-memorize details. So that you will be guided which details are important (during the first reading, all of them seems essential!), answer a qbook or subscribe to a 1-year kaplan qbank (usmlerx or usmle consult, whatever you prefer). The important thing is you do usmle-type questions before you jump into usmle world.

Good luck!

LOL!

Step 1 experiences are also my favorite threads! They give me hope that there's a happy ending to all of this...

That there's a LIGHT at the end of a dark tunnel that is not an oncoming TRAIN.

I'm a big fan of this forum even way before. I was a "guest" reading through all the threads months before I actually joined.
