I haven't seen KLN 2008. But let me illustrate what you can expect:

I have 2004 and 2010. They have a HUGE difference. KLN 2004 is severely lacking in info. Patho is in outline form in 2004. I finished reading it in 2 days! Other books don't have a remarkable difference I think (none that stands out as much as the patho book).

I have a friend who has 2009. What stood out for us between 2009 and 2010 is that 2009 doesn't have as extensive questions at the end of each chapter for physio. My friend ended up buying 2010 physio to supplement her 2009 KLN.

Basically, the difference in the books is per subject.

In some books you won't find a difference, in others there are drastic changes.

If you can go for the latest edition, go for the latest. It will erase doubts you might have during your prep. You wouldn't want to be doubting the books that you're using as primary resource.

I also have a friend who just bought KLN 2011 from Amazon. Maybe you can still find second-hand books there.

I recently bought the 2011 Kaplan Lecture notes and was doing physio when I noticed a few differences from the 2007 (blue cover) notes.

The only major difference between the two is 2011 has pathology at the end of each chapter but doesn't have any end-chapter questions. Also, they removed some stuff which was in 2007 maybe because that stuff is no longer high-yield or tested. Also, 2011 has a lot fewer pages.

Should I go back to the 2007 physio? I think I will miss out if I don't do the end-chapter questions.

@warfarin90: Weird but Kaplan does that... My 2010 Anatomy doesn't have end-of-chapter questions but my 2004 does.

What I did was I still used my newest edition for the content and just anatomy 2004 for the end-of-chapter questions. If you have that option (use both books), that will be my suggestion.

The end-of-chapter questions in my 2010 were very extensive. The explanations can make up another short chapter. If it's the same as your 2007, I agree with you that it's a big loss if you don't do them.

But do not worry though, there are still qbanks to make up for whatever deficiencies KLN (or its different editions) might have had.

I have friends who just used BRS physio and still got a 240++. And BRS physio is wwaaayyy smaller than KLN physio.

Haha yep I agree with you. I know most of US medical students use BRS
physio and they say Kaplan is too exhaustive. I don't know how they do it. There are soo many important concepts and clinical correlates in Kaplan that you get from watching Kudrath and Fisher.

For medical students, I guess BRS physio is enough since they just finished studying physio in-depth for a whole year. For graduates, I agree with you, I am surprised how some people just use BRS physio and still ace the exam. KLN is definitely more comprehensive. But I guess qbanks make up for the difference in knowledge that the two offer.

I've been using the 2008 LN with the 2010 Videos and it is essentially the same thing... Actually I think the 2008 notes are better because they have the questions at the back.

The 2010 notes are in color and actually have LESS info than the 2008, so they may be, in that sense, more "High Yield".

Kaplan 2008 + Vids, FA, and UWORLD should be enough for a really good grade IMO.

Yep! Uworld fills the gaps in a prep or in books, if ever there are.

Update: I just finished first read of Cardio chapter from 2011 Kaplan physio and it goes into depth on murmurs, venous pressure curve, heart sounds, even different type of S2 splits.

Not sure if 2010 has these additions but I know 2007 lacks a lot of info on these topics.
