Great choice in books!

Compare Kaplan Biochem with Biochem RR. I haven't read Biochem RR and I know that it's what AMGs read. But I think Kaplan Biochem has always had stellar feedbacks even among AMGs. The strength of Biochem RR is that it has biochem mcqs.

KLN sucks in many aspects of Anatomy!

Get another histology reviewer. Value your sanity!! Reading it will make want to jump of a bridge!
This link might help: http://www.usmle-forums.com/usmle-st...oll-127-a.html

You might want to supplement KLN gross anatomy with HY gross anatomy.
I personally used usmle Road Map Gross Anatomy and this book is great! But it's an overkill...
Go with HY Gross Anatomy. It's way simpler. It also won here: http://www.usmle-forums.com/usmle-st...poll-96-a.html

That's about it...

well I chose RR for biochem because I am very very weak in Biochem

Histology and anatomy I heard that they are very low yield ! so u advice me to covert to High Yield ? I am going to consider you requirement, but does High Yield gross contain histology or I should buy an individual book for histology ?
Thanks alot man

I don't think HY gross anatomy contains histology... Because there's a HY histology.

Histology in Kaplan is not well-written. People have had problems with their first reading because of that.

Since it's low-yield, it's also hard to go through it the second time.

Because of the effort and energy it takes (it IS that badly-written), it's just not worth spending that much time on for the second time especially when the exam is close. You might end up sacrificing the few easy questions in the exam. If you're looking for a 240+, you have to have all your bases covered.

I read KLN histo... and I still ordered HY histology. But it's in shipment, so I can't give you an in-depth review on that book.

But in my experience with HY books, they are very easy to read. You'll find that HY histology is more compact and outlined than KLN histology.

I'd recommend HY histology for starters because:
It will take you LESS time reading HY histo than KLN histo. That translates to LESS effort and a MORE efficient approach for a low-yield subject.

Compare KLN histo and HY histo yourself. Browse through them. You'll know what I mean.

As for gross anatomy...

I guess gross anatomy KLN is ok. Maybe if AFTER KLN gross anatomy you still feel you need to supplement it then go for HY gross anatomy.

But since it's low yield... yeah, I guess KLN gross ana is ok.

Fresh start her as well!

My question for you is in regards to Molecular Biology/Genetics, where do you intend to get your studymaterial? From what I have read, FA is not enough on the subject and at some tests it has been tested more than just a few qs.

One reason I am asking is I am still in the process of wondering my self.

So far I have been writing up: Some chapters in Goljan (Genetic dz and Neoplasma), but not sure if that is enough to suppliment.

Hope my input is a bit helpful

I heard there's a whole section in Kaplan qbank on mol. bio. but I'll find out for sure next month. There's a book I'm planning to use as a supplement for Mol. Bio: HY cell and molecular biology. See the link, usmle books, found on the top panel of the forum. There are polls on the different books and feedbacks too. You'll find them useful when planning your prep.
