Star URGENT: Need guidance!!

Hello fellow IMGers,

I have completed UW once with annotating in FA which took forever.
I was under the false impression that ive had many run throughs of FA since I was annotating for so long.

UW Average 45%
I gave nbme 11 and got a 260 - 177(predicted step 1)

My question is where do I start my review?
Read FA, uW 2nd time?

Any help is much appreciated

i believe since you put so much effort in annotating FA, the best thing is to give it a couple of good reads first, then do incorrect Qs in UW, then take another nbme. After that 2nd nbme you should get an idea about your weaknesses and work on them individually. the most important thing is not to get frustrated, or at least turn your frustrations into learning points.
Good luck

your story sounds just like mine. i annotated kaplan and uw in fa and right after i scored 280 (181) on nbme 11. Dont let it discourage you. iam doin DIT just to refresh my mind a bit before i really start memorizing the fa.

hello dr411,
if you have taken your nbme online they would already point out which areas you are weak, i think those are the areas you should start your review.
note : if you are weak in memory based areas like mechanism of actions in pharm or single stranded vs double stranded positive/neg strands like in micro, you need not worry much, a constant review of your review annoated FA with a second round of uw starting with random wrong Questions will suffice.
But if you are weak in areas of concept in path, patho -phy take little time to know these well and then start your uw + fa review.
after that you can take another online nbme or uw self assessment (this will over predict a little but still we can be happy when we see the score which will give us confidence to go on ) and reevaluate where you are.

This happens to many students all the time, so you are not alone, stay motivated study well
Hope this helps

Thank you all for your timely replies.

This was much needed encouragement, as people around me aren't in the same boat, and therefore can't provide much encouraging and specific advice besides the 'ol pat on the back and you'll fight through it kind of thing.

I've attached my nbme results so you guys can one explain what exactly it means, because (unfortunately) this is my first nbme i've ever taken outside of school. :/
-if weak in Behav.S: how to study? etc.

and second, where and what should I focus on?

I was thinking after reading all of your helpful advice:

1. Read FA ONCE

2. UW incorrect random timed
-review wrong answers, and if multiple incorrect about hard facts req'd for the DDX, e.g. inferior leads --> STEMI emphasize in FA?? but how??

3. NBME 12

What do you guys think?

I learned behavioral science pretty well from kaplan videos. Those lectures were really good. My exam is on the 30th of december. It looks like we are in similar spots.
