It is possible to finish step 1 and 2 if you time it well.
If you start with Uworld and First Aid and read them 3 times, you can give step 1 by Feb. Then CS by April and finally CK in August. So you will be just in time to apply for residency which is September 15.
But then you will also need LORs to apply for which you need to do externships or observerships and that can take time.

As far as I know they all do.
It will take you 2 years if you want to do it right and be sure of getting matched. I know people who hurried with the steps and then ended up getting low scores and never got matched. So if you decide to do it, do it as best you can because you don't want it to all go to waste.

I don't think it will make a huge difference because even if you do it in a year, it will be 3 years since graduation. So its either 3 or 4. But scores are everything especially for an IMG. Try to finish as soon as you can but at the same time don't give your exam unless you are doing well on your NBMEs
