Default Creatinine clearance in elderly ?

In the elderly, the muscle mass decreases, hence creatine decreases, hence creatinine decreases.
but since the GFR also decreases in elderly (age related) therefore the Creatinine clearance is still a good reflection of the GFR in all ages.
The creatinine clearance falls by 1ml/min annually after 50 years. So drug doses (esp of nephrotoxic drugs) are adjusted in them and used with caution. So both GFR and Creatinine fall, but GFR fall is greater with age.
