Default can u please help me too

I am an IMG graduated from Russia in 2009. I came to UK in 2010 for my MPH. just finished it and going to apply for psw. I need advice from u guys an it is really helpful for me, bcoz I dont have anybody to ask advice and this forum helped me a lot to clear my questions. I am planning to do step 1 hopefully end of this year. still didnt register for the exams as money is a big problem for me right now. I even dont have parents support and I came this far as my own with loads of family problems (just do not like to write this as I am so fedup by those problems) I have got only My husband and he is the one who support me.

I am confused now. I am thinking to find a job like some research assistant or something like that here in UK. I am living here with my husband and has a little baby. before I thought to prepare for the exams after my MPH course. But now thinking to find a job so it will helpful to find some money. can u guys please tell me if I do any research assistant job, is it helpful for me in future???? I mean when applying for residency?? or shall I just forget it and study for the exams???? I dont know what to do. I am so confused. please help me to clear my mind. I really appreciate that.

well a research job may add a little to your CV but all i have heard is that the whole importance to research or externship or observership is there only if its done in USA , otherwise its not held so high in your CV ...

I am still giving step 1 so dont have much knowledge , but this is what i have heard and so i would suggest you give your steps , score high on them , them do research post in USA which is looked at greatly , even observerships in USA will help more to get letters of recommendation rather than research in UK , a job .will help you financially but be sure it doesnot affect your studies ..

goodluck ...

I dont know much about MPH , I had heard that MPH done in US definitely increases your chances into residency .... but dont know how much importance will a MPH in UK , help .

I know that people who have done their residencies in their own country have been preferred by the coumunity hospitals in US very well because of huge patient load if you already know your stuff , you will work faster and less teaching will be needed , but dont know how MPH outside is rated . here you must understand that even residency at home country is counted good , but still they look for clincal experience in USA and letters from USA doctors , nothing matches them neither MPH , nor residency at home ...

I would say if MPH helps you financially too then do it , or even if you can manage MPH with studies then do it , because something is better than nothing .... but if it affects you financially and academically then do have a thought on it , as it would be wiser to spend money and do externships in US for letters
