Info Need NBME Information

I have few questions about NBME..
Are NBME SAs 7 blocks 46q each?
What does different forms mean? difficulty level?
Do i get any answer explanation?
Is it 60USD for one Self Assessment or all of them(13 forms or so?)

200 Questions per NBME. 50 questions each block. Offline NBMEs are also available and one doesnt need to spend money for each form. As the number of the form increase, the level of difficulty also increase. Majority of the people take only NBME 7 online. No answer explanation given in the offline version. Dont have the idea of the online ones. Hope someone else might be able to answer that.

Are NBME SA questions fixed for all the takers? or is it random question sorted into different difficulties.?
If it is fixed questions, when do they update their Questions?

$50 - you don't get any answers or indications of what questions you got wrong, you just get a score and a vague breakdown by subject and system of your performance
$60 - you get the above + you are shown which questions you marked incorrectly, but are not told the correct answer

difficulty level is generall accepted as (highest to lowest): 7, 11, 12, 6, 3, 5

questions set is same for everyone who does the same nbme.

over time the numbering system has been effected with the introduction of new forms (ie. 11 and 12 replacing 1 and 2)
thats why the its forms 3,5,6,7,11,12

I know this is a silly question but I just want to be 100% sure...

If I stumble upon offline nbme forms 1 and 2 in the future, they are totally different from nbme forms 11 and 12, right?

I'm worried maybe they just replaced some questions. Such that if I see nbmes 1 and 2, there are exact repeated questions in nbme forms 11 and 12...

Thanks!

ive done forms 1 and 2 and they are fairly simple forms, with people saying 11 and 12 are really difficult, i cant imagine they are the same.

yes.
kaplan self-assessments some would say (those who are ready for the step) are a joke. i would say its a learning tool to be used half way through your studies, so i had used them in the past month or so (i keep getting em for free so might as well!)

UW self assessments are good but the score it predicts for you overpredicts by as much as 10pts. this is what everyone claims and after taking it and scoring 10pts higher than nbme form 5, which i took 2 weeks later, i agree.

so the best way to go is online NBMEs.
the form you should take depends where in your study you are.
save 7 and 11 for the 4-6 weeks before the step 1.
