The prep during usmle always have highs and lows! You're not alone in this.

We just have to ride it when high, and climb out when in the low...

U can try doing 1 block of easy, random questions in-between the day, even if its just questions you've seen before, just to stimulate your brain. I'd also consider DoSikorski's suggestion.

You are not alone...
I still have lots to study but I keep slacking off and moving slow here and there.. Just take a break and get back to it.. Make sure you take some breaks now when you need it or else the process will slow down when your brain gets tired...

Almost everyone goes through this phase. Reading something again and assuming you never came across it before. The more you become familiar and work on your weaker areas, the easier it'll become. Don;t read a topic apply it by doing questions.. you;ll figure where you stand, and it'll motivate you to do even better. Also do some video's, sometimes watching a lecture helps to absorb info much better.
..and as for your mood, here's a little motivation:

^ it always helps me.
=)

Thumbs Up

yeah as d_wiqed says, highs and lows of preparation.

i guess taking a break is good. but have to take shorter breaks. I am experiencing similar phase now. Anyways... starting to get a bit motivated after holding the books and keeping the other things on sideline. Its the real you which gets motivated by doing things...

moral: action brings motivation & not motivation brings action!

Smile The ups and the downs!

There is no doubt in my mind this is a normal thing, in one way I must actually admit I find the ups and downs useful. Reason being is when having a down periode where I feel stupid. Oh yeah I do. I feel stupid! "How could I not remember this?" and other questions rumble through my mind. However it is that confusion, the frustration, the little edge which makes me look for solutions!

We are future MDs, some even MDs already. We are made for this! We are made for finding solutions to problems. Not all can be solved, both in life and in our practice, but that striving, the working towards our goal. Our patients goals.

Personally I know I have a long road ahead, however the pain and the battles along the way, I can't help it, but to enjoy it.

We are working on improvement. We are doing what has to be done to become better!

I know I have limitations, I know I have to fight for this. But even though I have just started and yeah yeah yeah I have my downs, my days where I am sure I am to slow to even make it... however, already I am seing that I AM improving.

This will make us better physicians, we strive and we work towards improving our skills!

I am so happy I have found this forum, here we have each other, here we can help each other finding solutions, helping each other towards our goals!

The ups and the downs, it is part of life That said, I am so happy though that I am not bipolar That would be to much ups and downs for me

Thank you!! I'm in the same boat as everyone else, I feel I don't have the motivation, but I reaaaally liked what one of you wrote: actions create motivation (I'm going to stick that message in my head )
