Default hepatic blood supply

Did not understand this uworld explanation-" shd the hepatic artery get occluded, the portal vein and the retrograde arterial flow through the accessory vessesl(inferior phrenic,adrenal,etc) be typically sufficeint to sustain the liver.

whats retrograde arterial flow?

The accessory vessels have collaterals which supply the liver.

But I think the main blood supply comes from the backup of 02 rich blood for the HA occlusion. This blood will backup up into the arteries proximal to the occlusion, which means the arteries that eventually end up in the portal vein. Therefore the 02 content in the portal vein will be much higher than usual and help sustain the liver.
