Question The effect of increasing PIP2 on the Thyroid!

TSH receptor in follicular cells are coupled to Gs and Gq proteins
Increased cAMP: growth and iodine trapping effect of TSH
increased ca+: increased organification (oxidation)
adult get a drug that increase synthesis of PIP2 in follicular cell
what the effect:
a. increased gland mass/increased TSH/decreased T4
b. decreased gland mass/no change in TSH/ decreased T4

ans: B
what is the effect of increasing PIP2??? won't there be more
IP3/DAG available for more iodine oxidation???
I don't get the concept..

That is one tough question!

Maybe the idea here is to test the concept of iodine autoregulation by the thyroid gland: the increase in oxidation of iodine stimulates the thyroid to lower its hormone production
