Germany Question from a German medical student

Hey

I am planning on taking my step 1 in about a year from now.
I think I am going with FA and the Kaplan Lecture Notes.
Is there going to be a FA 2011 and the Kaplan Lectures 2010/2011 or are the old versions more than enough?

For Pathology I am going with "the Robbins", thats what I already used for my Pathology exams.

I have heard about the live lectures and webprep...
is it necessary to do those or can I also score high just by studying with FA and Kaplan lecture notes?

Thank you for your answers.

Default Go ahead ...

There will be FA version 2011 but it's not going to be much different from the 2010 edition. So go ahead and start reading the 2010. It's basically a marketing strategy as they want to sell more and more.

As for the Kaplan webprep, I don't think you need it at all. the Notes and the DVDs are fair enough. Again the 2010 edition is good for at least 2 to 3 years.

Robbin's pathology is the gold standard. It's just that USMLE do not read it because they don't usually have the time for it. But if you are comfortable with it then YES it's better than what Kaplan offers.

Good luck

Thank you for your answers.
Just to make sure:
If I want the Notes and the dvds I have to buy them through ebay/amazon.
Would you watch the dvds while doing the Notes or is there any other order which one should prefer.

Thank you

Read the Kaplan note chapter by quick scanning to know what is about then watch the DVDs and add notes the book as you watch then read the chapter once again a little more details.

The videos are organized in way so that you can watch them chapter by chapter.

Thanks for your answers.

I think I am going with the Kaplan Lecture Notes, Robbins for Pathology and FA.
I tried to find the DVD on amazon or ebay, but I can't find it. Maybe I am not looking the right way. Anybody who has a link for me :-)
Would you just start studying and doing questions in the books and 3 months before the exam you do USMLEworld or any other question database.
