Question How high-yield is Histology?

Just started anatomy, and decided to get over with histology first. I think I should mention here that I hated histology and was glad to get rid of it as soon as I finished second year of med school. Compared to the horrible histology book that was part of my med school's book list, Kaplan histology is quite good.
However, it is still rather dry. I find that I am able to understand and sort of retain it but unable to interpret slides. Also, I don't feel like giving this subject the same importance and devotion I gave to others (like Pharmacology for instance). So, is it OK?
Oh, and any suggestions on how to improve upon my poor interpretation of histology slides?
