Biochemistry Hyperammonemia causes depletion of alpha-ketoglutarate!

can somebody tell me why hyperammonemia (liver failure, otc def...etc) cause depletion of alpha-ketoglutarate hence inhibition of TCA cycle?

alfa ketoglutamate acts as an ammonia group acceptor during deamination reactions forming glutamate.

alfaKG + NH3 = Glutamate.

so hyperammonemia will deplete the alfa ketoglutarate leading to stoppage of the TCA cycle
