If it's only 2.5 weeks away from your exam, I think it's better to stick to UW notes + FA + nbmes.

How's the score?? You've already made it to the 220's!! That's really good! Anything is possible! You can definitely make it to the 240's. At this point, there is no way to go, but up!!

Good luck!!

Sure, no prob! Good luck in your next nbmes!! The recent forms are more predictive. You might want to try them too, to get a holistic view of where you are now. 220 is a good place to start. Wish you all the best!

220 is a good score to start with.. However, don't depend on one NBME try one of the recent NBMEs before u decide. But try to review ur weak areas before you do the next one.

friends
it says a 220 is correlated to a 156 three digit usmle score on the feedback
this is really bad and below the passing 3 digit score for usmle right???

I was thinking you meant 220 in the Step 1 score (after converting).
156 is failing when it comes to the real exam. But dont wry. You can still study hard and fix ur mistakes. Just try giving another NBME soon..

I'm sorry... Like suka, I thought the 220 here is already the converted or predicted usmle score. I wasn't expecting it to be the raw score or number of correct. If it corresponds to a usmle predicted score of 156 in the conversion table, you might want to consider pushing the date...

like she said ....... JUST EXTEND IT ....... DONT make this mistake of giving it ........ PLease 2.5 wks changes nothing ....... sorry thats what i feel .... it takes time ........ everyone gets a shock when they take there first nbme .. but i would suggest you need 2 months more .... cancel your date before a week or will have a 250 $ fine instead of 50 $ ........ sit for moment , decide , plan .....

rest is your choice ........

goodluck

Do you mean you've already extended your eligibility period??

If you can still extend your eligibility period and cancel the date, do it sooner. This way there's less stress on your part. The process is really easy.

If you can't extend your eligibility period anymore, I understand. Paying $700++ all over again for the exam fees is no joke. It will be a very difficult decision on your part. Just do nbmes weekly. One week before your exam, you have to decide.

Of course, you can still improve in 3 weeks... There is always that possibility, but you have to be really honest with yourself in the upcoming days.

Good luck!! I wish you all the best!

Oh ok! I'm not sure how the process is when we need to go apply again for a new eligibility period, but I think it has been discussed here recently... Let me look for the thread... Oh, here it is! Skipping the Exam Date. This may help. Contact your prometric center or check the ECFMG website to be really sure.

Postpone...it is a lot of money but if you take the exam and fail it or end up not doing well, you will have to spend the money again!

Making up that much of a gap within 2-3 weeks will be difficult, just being honest

hey usmle_taker,

It's a good thing you asked ppl here. Now that you have postponed the exam, try to solve as many Qs as possible together with reviewing FA. If you have a study partner, that's great but if you don't then join the discussion on this forum to learn things from a different aspect.

Your score says you aren't ready. Try to learn more rather than waste time panicking, do more NBMEs and you will be as good as you want.

Do other NMBEs and UWSAs and Kaplan Stimulation Tests, maybe NMBEs underestimate you by 20+ points.

Good luck!
