Post need some help about renal threshold for reclaiming bicarb

I was reading goljan. on page 102, there is a statement saying, volume depletion due to excess vomiting is an example of raising the renal threshold for reclaiming bicarb. Kinda confused here. isn't the compensated mechanism losing more bicarb under this circumstances??? need some help, thx all!
