Arrow Doing poorly in NBME

I have some offline NBME forms and decided to do them one block at a time and I started with form 2 (I know it's old and outdated but I was just doing it for practice and to orient myself with exam-type questions). I only got 200

I should mention that I have not yet done pathology (still doing it in med school and so I am unable to understand what has not yet been taught to me) and am only halfway through anatomy. i've given 2 reads to everything else.

My question is: am I in a very horrible place right now?? There were also a few questions which gave me a deja vu kind of feeling but I couldn't remember the answers

Any tips on how to raise NBME scores?? I was also hoping on advice on when I should schedule the exam.

Plus, I know that I should this question in some other part of this forum, which I already have done, but nobody replied to it there : how many months in advance to my chosen exam date should I register and pay for the exam??

Raw?? What's that??

I mutiplied the number of answers I got right by 1.4 and got around 200. So I guess that's 3-digit, right?

Well, Its very LOW score - yes.
But if you HAVEN'T done your pathology - your score progressing well.

After pathology you will rock!

Yep, DocSikorski is right. You're just midway in your studies. You can't expect yourself to be in the 230's -- yet. When you're towards the end of your prep, that's when you hope that your nbme scores to be at least in the 220's.

Plus, it's just an offline, outdated form... Don't feel too bad about it. It's when you start using nbmes 5 or 6 that should get you thinking about your pace.

Default advice

fat1iscool as for studying pathology i truly advice u to go through whatever u have done in your med school to save time intended for pathology.
As i told u, we finished the general pathology in the last (the 5th semester) and now we're doing the systemic portion of pathology & regret not studying the general part while we were doing it .
Plus pathology is like a novel (all the info is in the book) u don't need to be taught pathology, maybe just need to know from your teachers how to think while studying it.
So please try to study pathology 4 step 1 parallel to your lectures at med school, don't make the same mistakes.

Like everyone else already mentioned... Since you haven't taken path yet its a great score! By the time you finish path you will problie get above 230. The ppl who have been getting 230s are mostly those who have been studying for the for a while. Some have already finished their clinicals, etc. So there are different reasons why they do better. Don't wry abt why ur not getting what they are getting. Just keep studying. Try to do the same chapters as ur path class or you can try going ahead of them but don't skip the chapters they are doing in class because it can hurt ur path grades (it plays a big role at some schools).
You can try doing robbins to start with (thats what I used when during my path class) or golgian (he has everything that you need in his book).
Good luck!
