Very good plan! I think I'll be starting DIT within the first week of April and go for 15 days as well and then take an NBME just like you. I will try to do an NBME before and after DIT just to see how much it helps lol I will do questions from the Kaplan QBank as I do DIT.

you guys can actually do more that 3 lectures per day if that's all you are doing.
Each one is 90 minutes, usually done in 2 hours, because of some pauses for questions. I think Dr. Jenkins is great, the other guys specially the guy with the rapid reviews are not that good. If you have experience with FA you can actually make its go faster 1.5x velocity.

Yep, he recommends maybe 1 read before. The reason is that he goes slow in some high yield topics, but some medium or low yield stuff he goes superfast assuming you already read it, or you can read it later.

@tootsie:

LOL!! I'm guilty!

I was doing a solid uworld patho questions ONLY for around 2 weeks. I catch myself literally staring at a wall for 30 mins to an hour.

I felt like a Dementor (from Harry Potter) sucked the life out of me! The zombies in the Walking Undead series have more life in them...

hahahahahaha tootsie that pic says it all!!!! U can actually stare at a wall for hours without getting bored while studying! and therez also the famous "oh ill just checkout this ONE thing online" and you end up spending 4hrs online!

and numbndumb, nothing is wrong with you! i myself hav some ADD, it would take me 5hrs to watch 30mins of kaplan lool! Thats y i proposed studying together and keeping intouch online through here or chat, that way if one of us is lagging behind or being lazy the other person encourages him/her!

Thank God I'm not the only one. I guess - i'm "normal"?

I've literally gone through extreme measures to buckle down and they've all been useless.

I hate it! How come, if I have 8h+ in a day, I end up studying the equivalent of 2-3 hours max on what I consider a "good study day"?

I guess it is normal....I wish I could join in the study group for DIT but I'm currently doing Kaplan videos and i'm in for the long haul if it takes me days to finish a lecture.

I'll try to speed to catch up and hopefully join in some group that enforces discipline on me.

Cheers kids! ... This is our life.

Kaplan is gr8 honestly, i did the micro, immuno, biochem vids and loved them!! micro is pretty str8 forward tho, she pretty much reads everyword out of the book so its like gettin a 1st read done watching! only problem with that is, some people would think its a waste of time and theyd prefer to just study it themselves! Biochem tho is GOLD!! i hated biochem in medschool, honestly i think i slept thru all my biochem lectures in school lool! i hear the pharm vids r good too!

if i were to choose one subject where kaplan is the BEST compared to any other vids/books, it would b biochem!

Ditto!! For a whole year I've put off the videos thinking that I'm a better teacher to myself than real lecturers....I don't regret it, because I finally feel like I have a good grasp on concepts, but I have to admit that these videos are AMAZING..

So far I've only watched biochem. I personally hated biochem bc it seems so complicated but when I read Lippincotts I began to really like it (even planning on doing a Phd someday on biochem or physio) and now after watching the videos I seriously love biochem.

All I have to do is go through the videos again but this time annotate into FA. I'm doing all of this for biochem bc it's the one that scares me the most as opposed to other subjects.

@Hope...sorry for hijacking this thread...oops

i've started DIT to do a quick review of FA, & here's what i think:
u think kaplan videos are boring? these DIT guys are a new standard of boring. They mostly only read FA to you, & cant even do that properly
& then there's cartoonish stuff thats supposed to be funny, but its like the last nail in the coffin. It bores me to death
the only plus point is the quizzes, that actually help you to remember stuff; but apart from that one single plus point, i cant think of anything in DIT's favor

LOL! TY....I also agree. After watching kaplan videos i can repeat what you and bebix said...this guy is really boring. Had I been able to go through his videos I would've already been done with step 1 a loooong time ago. However, I hesitate to do so bc I am not tolerant whatsoever to boredom.

I guess I'm gonna have to "not care" and sit through them despite how painful it is.

But you made me laugh...

Yea it definitely works for some people and doesn't work for others...hes just reading first aid to us instead of us reading it to ourselves...the material doesn't change

Thanks everyone for DIT video link and I am downloading it. Downloading time is 6 days ?

I guess i'll stick to dit 2010. I might start from tomorrow and might watch 2 lectures per day. So instead of 15 days, i'll complete in 22 days. It's 7 days more but it will give me more time to do questions. Hope this works. Planning to give exam on last day of May.

Damn!
I thought I was the only one staring at the wall. Or staring at a blank laptop screen for mins before I realize what I should be doing (studying). And my 10 mins breaks goes into 2 hrs. I was wondering how everyone else manage to study straight 12 hrs and stuf.. I guess are all in the same boat then...

One of my friends did the Pass program. Have you taken it ? I've done some research about it and I've heard its excellent! But not many students know about it.

lol i have heard that the live prep is really good because they have a very good professor and they do 1 on 1 sessions everyday. They make the students live close by (they provide housing) and also make all the students follow the same study plan for 2 weeks ..they give you a qbank subscription and make you do NBME's in that time ... Seems to be a really good program!

Oh I see. I have the videos too but seriously there are so many sources and so much stuff to do that I will never have time to watch the pass program videos .. even if they are infact better than other videos lol .. Kaplan vids, DIT, books, FA etc etc .. it never ends

Default DIT

Planning on doing DIT at my own pace and since I have taken kaplan lect. already, I plan on incorporating notes from that to my study guide as well. Giving myself about 3 months to prepare.

I guess so too, but it has been 5 days since the incident and the admin usually updates the forum everyday. I wonder if there's another reason on top of the nbme questions.

Lol nah it happened again two days back..bunny posted another question from nbme 7 and somebody who had already taken it even pointed out the exact question number. Admins probably gave several warnings and bunny never stopped.

Oh, ok... Thanks! I've been thinking there may have been another incident aside from the nbme 13... That repeat episode was most likely the reason.

Yea a lot of members got pissed as did I...we all know it wasn't Bunnys intention wasn't to ruin the nbme for us but if you don't know the question source you shouldn't post the question you know

Yep, I agree... It was really good that the admin knew about the nbme 13 questions. Since only a handful of people have taken the latest nbme, it would be tough for the members to point those out.

DIT turned into Bunney's thread
But ye! I am guessing its because of the NBMEs as well.. That night she/he posted alot of questions straight from NBME.. Which none of us knew where it came from (Since some of us haven't taken any NBME's yet..) But we got excited and did those questions right when bunney posted it...

I started DIT as planned on the 1st but since I am supplementing it with kaplan vids, I am still on day 1. It seems a bit overwhelming at first but everything starts to fall into place. Good luck everyone!

I personally think the DIT review on its own is enough for a gr8 score as long as you have some knowledge of the basic material, and by some knowledge i dont mean gone over FA twice or done kaplan, i just mean the normal knowledge you have gained from med school over the yrz! and no im not an american grad or anything, im an IMG from Egypt so we are all in the same boat here lol! I hav done some of the kaplan vids and even thought the BIO ones were amazing, all i can say is if you actually do DIT the way its done and focus im sure each and every1 will do gr8 on the exam! im actually luving it so far!! yes he does read through FA pretty fast but if you focus you learn to keep up! and the study guide is AMAZING!

anywyz gdluck every1!!

DIT is pretty intense. i cant keep up at the 3 vids a day pace. im doing 2 vids a day and a block of UW every other day.

but so far i have learned alot of stats stuff.
the study guide is good for drilling in the facts.

im sure i will learn much more to come

and i really really hope by the end im up 15-20pts overall on my nbme scores.
