Thanks for your reply!

Most of the people who took the exam feels like that -- many of them high scorers too. I can actually name a few who took the exam recently and passed with flying colors.

Relax for now... You deserve a worry-free break after all that studying!

hi zaki,

dont worry about the feeling that you currently having, its ALL NORMAL.

most of the people after the exam have a mixed reaction. donot worry about it,
at the moment dont think about the exam.

am sure you must have done well.. our prayers are with you.

if you dont mind could you please elabortate about the exam??

1- DID YOU FIND UW help you answer the questions with ease? If you did so, can you please give us an example on how did it help you answer the Q.
I mean where u able to answer the Question because u learnt the concept from uw????

2-how many times did you go thru uw. did you write notes for every Q u did in uw?am asking this because i feel like i have been writting alot of notes from 1 Q itself and i feel its time consuming.

please do share your views on the above Q

thanks!

thank u all again for ur posts

AJ23: i finished the usmlew with 69% correct answers

what i had in my exam was the concept of usmlew but but the exam wasnt hard as usmlew

and yes ... i wrote every note for any incorrect question and did it twice

1st time for notes 2nd time for revising the marked questions

MY ADVISE for all who are going to start their preparation:

FIRST AID(MEMORIZE IT)
KAPLAN VIDEOS (VERY VERY HELPFUL .... i actually had some of questions
that contained the same concept related to the videos)

and last BUT BUT LEAST (NBMEs )

it would sound funny or awkward if i say that the review books are non-sense and u will not remember any detail that u read it in the past

anatomy +neuroanatomy(kaplan videos very high yield)

things that u cant find answers for them in the exam :

behavioral(ETHICS((patient-physician relationship)) ...thats why im scared)

i will give an example (a question from my exam)

a lady who has controlled diabetes with her medication knew about a herb while searching on the internet and learned that it has a glycemic control

effect. she came to your clinic to show u the herb and tell u to add it to her medication regimens what would u do or response?

1.add it to her medications
2.search the internet to know about the herb
2.tell that the herb is not FDA approved drug and its unethical to add it
4.ask the patient what she doesnt like about her old medication(thats my answer)
5. ........... i cant remember it

thats what im talking about

Id go with 4 too. You always need to start a discussion, browsing a web with a pt in the roob would be inappropriate

hey guys,

Hitman: the problem with genetics is not that the question in the exam is impossible to answer but it will take alot of time to figure out the answer

they would probably ask u about the possibility of the inheritance u may find it easy when u r studying but considering the stress that u will face i will really take alot of ur time

whats the solution?.... practice more if u got time

it's a huge succes to be done with step 1 buddy.
Wish you all the best

i wonder ... what would you say about molecular stuff?

where they asked in depth ... ?

many of recent usmle takers state that molec biology becomes more and more dominant.

I studied the same exact things as you!
brs phys, brs path, kaplan bio-chem, and biostat vids haha not one thing is different!

but i did my first NBME a couple of days ago and failed so alot of my friends are saying the reason might be because of my poor basic foundation (since i didnt read other than those early during my prep)

Did you ever find any problem with this issue?
How were your UW scores, and NBME scores?

i would like to post behavioral questions that might appear on your exams

1st: a 16 year- old boy came to the hospital after being sexually abused

a female doctor is sent to take a history from the boy . She entered the room and found him looking at the corner and not making any eye contact with her so she asked him about the incident but he didnt answer. What is the most appropriate way to facilitate taking the history?

the answers were almost the same comapring to each other( showing emapthy, blah blah )

but what i answered was : to tell the boy that you will bring a male doctor
instead of female

i know it sounds awkward but question like that ( male boy , female doctor) must be related some how to the gender

he was more likely abused by male I think.

If he is silent its useles to ask him, I think its more helpful to start talking yourself, give an example of someonelse's story or something like that... I am not very sure

ya i agree with DocSikorski,i think he was abused by a male so he might feel comfortable/secure with female doc,so all she needs to do is to make him talk by starting open end questions and tell him that she is gonna help him...don't know if that was in the options

u never ever ever never ever offer to replace the doctor, or offer the patient another physician, or even refer to ur supervisor

only case u do that is when the patient insists on u not treating him.. then u have to respect that... dr steven daugherty said so

most probably would be something like the guys said above... start talking, open any topic
