Hey,

I was in your situation as well and now trying to get pass step 1. Just gotta study hard man theres not much else to it. Somewhere in your last try you didn't give it all so this time make sure you do your best. Just study and focus on your weaknesses. How long has it been since you last studied ? After my step 1 I took a break of 4 months and started off again by taking a Kaplan Course and going over Kaplan material again. Also I did UW earlier so I'm doing Qbank this time around. You have to assess yourself, find your weaknesses, make a study schedule and know what sources you're going to use this time. Then set that plan into action! Good luck!

How did you prepare the first time? If you feel like you did not grasp well the concepts, you should probably start from scratch (videos and lecture notes). Otherwise, just reinforce your weak subjects, read, memorize, comprehend the First Aid or medEssentials, and do lots of Qbank (USMLE World, Kaplan, or both).

I'm taking it for the first time in some months. Can you please tell me what you think you did wrong? The Step 1 scares me.

Hey i am sorry that nobody helped you ,

step preparation should start off with kaplan LN and videos ,once u are done with it ,its time for qbanks and first aid .
Do as many questiion as u can,you can never cram all theory ,best way is to do kaplan qbank and uworld and do first aid as many times as u can . take NBME and if get score you want go for the exam

But sadly its not so easy and smooth ,this exam is all about endurance and persistance .You have to cram everything given in first aid and understand core concepts given in Qbank(specially of Uworld)

also there are minor tweaks depending on ones preparation ,for eg if u have trouble cramming first aid u should join DIT.

if u are weak in one particular subject (as shown by your nbme assessment) then go back to your kaplan LN + videos for that subject .

Also most importantly u have to study fast ,the exam prep should be saturating your brain with hardcore study ,u cannot take years studying as u will start forgetting stuff.

There is no one way to prepare ,as i said study the normal way and tweak your preparation according to what you require and do it fast .its hard ,buckle up ,fight ,its war !

i am sorry for you,but we are here to guide you.yes start with the kaplan vids and LN and you got to work it in a right way,do not skip anything but make sure you are very comfortable with High Yield topics.
important thing is the thinking process, how you deal with the Q's.Q banks will help for that.keep working in a right direction......you will do great. All the best

Default Chances of residency after step 1 failure

I am in a similar situation after an unsuccessful attempt at step 1. Was so devastated by the results but figured I just have to try again and do BETTER. What are the chances of getting matched after a step 1 failure? Any opinions, experiences would be very much appreciated
