Yup. Took it 3 weeks ago. But how do you know that it will be this Wed and not the 4th Wed? I heard some "link" disappears that was there before and reappears after scores are posted. So what "link" are people talking about? Is it the "Score Report Information" link (I have set that page to refresh every minute).

I also remembered some mistakes, but I think that's quite normal. So no worries, you can't change it anyway

Hi there!

Congratulations on such a good score. Could you please tell me what I would need to do to get a score like yours? I have about three months to prepare for the exam and am willing to put in the effort. Any suggestion(s) would be of help.

Thank you.

Here's how I prepared for the Step 1.

FA 2010, USMLE World and Wikipedia. I prepared approx. 2 month for the Step 1. First I went thru FA and I clarified any questions with wikipedia. I didn't have any other books ect. What really helped that I tried to nail everything during my time at university. If you really try to understand the basic principles (anatomy, biochem, physiology, pharma and patho), you should have heard about some of the topics covered in FA at least. In the last months I basically used UW and did all questions. I repeated weak subject identfied by UW. But please don't try to know everything, you will lose yourself in detail.

In the last week I repeated some hard to remember topic (enzyme deficienies...), reviewied some questions and did NBME Form 12 and 13. I was excited about writing it and I did the acutal Step 1 in 6 hours

Great score ! Congrats !

How were your scores in NBME 12 & 13? Did form 12 & 13 predict close to your real score as you gave them within the same week?

The mean of both of them was my acutal score. I think I did them 7 and 3 days before the exam respectively.

Thanks for the post. I think there really is no way to aim for a 260 starting from scratch three months out from the day of the exam. Does anyone know what a gettable score would be with three months of prep starting with a weak foundation? I'm not looking for a miracle drug but I need to do well in this exam.

@Dr.Aysh: I really would focus on doing questions. You should have some kind of a basic knowledge by now and you can certainly repeat difficult subjects, but questions, questions and questions.

@pokerface: I think 3 months should be enough, try to study hard and you will be fine. If you have never seen a medial school from inside, then you probably need some more time, but I don't think that's the case.

UW questions are really close to the real exam, but I cannot comment on any other qbanks. I just used them.

I can't give you specific advice, because everybody studies differently. But I would try to do all UW questions and repeat all wrong questions. Repeating FA is certainly a good idea, however questions are essential.
