Kaplan Medical Kaplan MedEssentials Book Information

Hi,

I wanted some information on Kaplan MedEssentials text book

If I want to write my exam in 2 months, when is a good time to use this book? I don't want to overwhelm myself with too many sources. So far I am planning on doing DIT with FA, Goljan Audios, Kaplan Qbank, HY Neuro, Pathoma and may be some review of my Kaplan Lecture notes (basically my weak points).

How big is this book? How long does it take to go over it? Is it mostly concepts or just charts as in the Kaplan Lecture Notes?

Thanks for your help and please suggest what I should do.

Hey man, it's Kaplan's version of FA. So as you said, stick to some resources, don't go crazy. It's overwhelming already. Check out yourself, read a chapter in FA and they in medessentials. I think FA is better.

Yep, the book is good actually, complements FA in some stuff, but after all the books he's going through, can be overwhelming... use it as a reference. I have it here next to my desk, used it like 3 times during my whole prep.

Thanks for your input fellas.

I think I have a lot of sources plus when I go through kaplan qbank I look at the medessentials references and add the ones that I think are worth checking out to "My Questions" for a later second review. So i think for now I should just stick to what I have, finish off these sources thoroughly and then may be think about it if I have time. I read on some other threads as well that you need a lot of time to go through that book since its almost like Rapid Review ? well, i think ill stick kaplan qbank for now if i need to look at the med essentials.

I've been thinking of using kaplan medessentials too. But it's 500 pages!

I think the best way is to focus on FA and just choose specific chapters in medessentials that FA didn't cover enough. The info in medessentials are arranged very well, there are chapters that really impress me. Let's just be careful not to get too overwhelmed of all the material.

Thanks dwiqed. I don't think I'm gonna use it anymore. I think all that I need is already in the Kaplan Qbank and I have a 12 month subscription for it anyways Plus right now I do not want to overwhelm myself with too many books!
