Smile USMLE Prep is like Frozen Chicken!

Hello everyone
I got my result on 21st march (250).
Initially I thought that I won't write my experience as every one basically follows the same routine, but in whole preparation for the step i think the only thing that matters is motivation. The stuff is just plain easy. I know we think that there is so much to learn and so much to cram, but to be honest, there is very little that they ask. My source for motivation had always been others experiences. So i hope my experience does the same for others.
According to me the only thing that matters is patience. There are many people who are afraid of the step thinking that they require a high IQ, or concepts. Let me tell you, all that is pure crap. USMLE prep is the same as a frozen chicken. The only thing that you have to do is take it out and have patience till it is all warm and tender.... and that is definitely a hard thing to do, as you are always thinking of the result and the taste of the final dish...
Everything in the prep is already explained that you dont have to think one bit.. just have patience and keep going.

MY prep
Total time- 8 months
time per day- 6-8 hours and some days even 10 hrs. Everyone i know accelerates there prep in the last days, but i hardly studied the last 3 weeks, I've got Anxiety problems....
Study material- Kaplan Lecture Notes, read twice, read first aid once, but wasn't able to revise it..
qbank- uworld, 1st time avg.-73%, 2nd time-89%
NBME 6- 3 months before- 228
NBME 7- 3 weeks before-247
the night before exam- couldnt sleep , decided to change the date.... almost changed the date...but my brother changed my mind...so slept 1 and 1/2 hr...gave the exam
during exam you are on an another energy level....didn't feel sleepy at all, drank 3 redbulls though....
word of advice-excessive redbulls give you a diarrhea... (caffeine increases CAMP and increases GI motility) ...i had to go to bathroom 3 times during the exam......knew my exam went gud rite away

got my result 4 weeks later..250

Congrats on the great score despite having to take those many breaks.

Yeah, I think you're absolutely right about the patience and the motivation.

May God continue to bless you in all your future endeavors and thanks a lot for posting your experience. I, like you, get motivated by reading what others went through and even if the prep is the same, it just even lets you know you're on the right track.

Enjoy your score!!!

i am an intern.but my advice to you is try your best... but dont give the test until you are 100 % sure that u ll do gud. Just be consistent, even if you study for 1 hour a day, just dont let the day go to waste. dont let the Anxiety settle down, always be on your toes. when i used to go out, at the back of my mind there was always a tension of the prep. so no matter how tired i was, i would sit and open the book, and i made sure that i learn atleast 1 fact. because at the end of the day, its just 322 questions you gotta know.
