Question Hemolytic Anemia Hepatosplenomegaly

Had a Uworld q that said that chronic severe hemolytic anemia (eg B-thal) causes Extramedullary Hematopoiesis (EMH). Hence the hepatosplenomegaly and chipmunk facies/frontal bossing.

Does all hemolytic anemias cause EMH or just "chronic" ones?

Also HSmegaly can be caused by the spleen and liver destroying abnormal RBCs which also confuses me as well.. Like its making the RBCs that it is going to end up killing.

It would be funny if the guy you see running out of the forest, being bitten by a venomous snake turning into a chipmunk...

I guess only chronic ones do so.
