Embarrassed Embarrassed by my score

Hello all,

I'm an IMG from Colombia
last wednesday I got my Step1 score: 190/75. I'm trying to understand how I got that score, I was expecting at least 220.

I started studying one year ago, April 2010.
Schedule
Weekdays: 8-10 hours/day
Weekend:4-6 hours saturday, Sunday off.

-First lap: 3 months I read all The Kaplan Lecture Notes 2010 (pdf), made annotations. (3 notebooks)
-Second lap: 3 months Read all the Books again, read my notes, made flashcards and diagrams. For pathology I did the goljan audio lectures and notes. Last month of this period I started UW Qbank doing by subjects/46 daily.
-Third lap: I read all my annotations and flashcardas only. Simultaneously did Qbank mixedx46 q's daily.
-last 10 days: 2 blocks of 46q's daily, Hight yield and weak areas.

That sounds like a good plan right?

I'm trying to find my mistake, I felt very nervous the day of the test, I had tachycardia and headache, after the test I felt really sick. But I thought I did ok.

I'm/ was interested in Radiology residency, but with this score it is almost impossible. I have to step back and see other options.

Do you know what can I expect with this low score?
How can I find a job as a research assitant, or a research fellowship?
I need advice! :sorry:

Thank you in advance

-D

How were your NBME scores before the exam ?
Which NBME forms did you do if any ?

I think there is nothing you can do about step 1 now since that is going to be your score for the next 7 years. What you can do now is look forward to your step 2 CS, CK & Step 3 and do really well in those. If you have some US Clinical experience that would be helpful and you should have good LOR's and personal statements etc for when you apply for residency.

I did 3 SA
UWSA1: 2 months prior: 180
NBME 12: 1 month prior: 190
UWSA 2: 10 days prior: 250
UWSA 1: 8 days prior: 256 (I did this twice)

Do you know how can I find a research fellowship or a research assistant job.
I guess it's a must to have contacts in the field right?

I'm not sure if it worth it keep thinking to go into Radiology
What would you do?

first of all, congratulations! you passed!

i think hopetopass is right. study hard for step 2 ck and ace it. I am quite very much worried too. i still have 2 wednesdays before I get my score.

how about fam med or psych? i heard these specialties don't really require a high score.
