Immunology Stuck with immunoglobulin heavy and light chain production mechanism

I am stuck in immunology Ig & TCR genes Kaplan chapter 4...
Is it necessary to know the exact way for production of heavy and light chain > their diversity..

any better way to understand them?...any other reference...

I think you're fine as long as you're familiar with the fact that it involves VDJ recombination. I doubt that they'll ask you any questions about how VDJ recombination works.

heavy- VDJ and mu or delta constant domain
light - VJ ang kappa or lambda constant domain

and move on

the post above is essentially all you need to know

also, know Brutons agammaglobuninemia and the fact that in that condition the B-cells are stuck as Pre-B cells, which have a differentiated heavy chain but undifferentiated light chain.

thats really the only clinical application.
