Help Do I need to cram microbiology life cycles?

I need advice as in how much detail do we need for this subject!

I started with parasitology from MRS ... I need to know should I cram all the life cycles?
how much time should I give to this subject?

it seems to me like I will never be able to retain it?

The best I could handle micro was to start off with Kap LN and use that side by side with FA. Then I did Kaplan qbank and uworld questions on it. It helped me out a lot.

During Med School, I studied MRS. I find that the cartoons they have ib the book act as memory aids that have sped up the revision process.

Go with whatever you are comfortable with. It seems more complicated than it actually is. Try making notes, grouping similar parasites and viruses together. Some of my colleagues made huge flow charts that linked the different pathogens based on their similarities.

Hope this helps.

It depends on your pace. I think that it should take a week at the most. However, I have set out three days for my revision, so it is entirely up to you.

micro doesnot like me very much ... i thought i cud pull it off in a week . but it turns out , i have done only parasito uptill now(4days) ... im in middle of bacterio ...

my strategy :
i read mrs , kap , fa, and found goljan notes fm this site smwhere... added on kaplan tables all the points abt one parasite ...

then i made lil stories to relate all the important points ... so i wud retain all the info ...

now for bacterio ... i have just read kaplan LN and browsed thru videos ... im in the mid of it ...then will follow the same pattern as in parasito....

my problem is : i get tired very easily ..... i mean its like i have to take a break after every 30 minutes ...... my pace has slowed down a huge notch since i started micro !!

this is a devastating subject to read!

in my opinion , kaplan and fa r enough ... but the problem wd this subject is retaining it , so i wud sujjest MRS for it ...

its a good scoring subject for step 1,imo , u wud start of wd micro being the weakest link but it will end being ur strongest subjects but obviously i have yet to master it ... and it will take time n a lot of my imagination.

i would especially recommend the bacteriology portion fm MRS... as in kaplan doesnt make a good concept of general bacteriology
