Question Clot specific tPA

I know recombinant tPA like alteplase is clot specific but is regular old tPA clot specific, i.e. needs plasminogen bound to fibrin in order to work??

Default answer

yes, both tPA and rTPA (alteplase) catalyze the conversion of plasminogen to plasmin.
rtPA is basically tPA but created with recombinant biotechnology techniques.
