Help Scored 219 on NBME form 12, exam 5 weeks away. What now?

Hey guys,

I just took NBME form 12, right after doing a month of DIT, and i scored 219.
Prior to starting DIT (4 weeks ago), i took form 6 and scored 191.

So i've gone up 28 pts in 4 weeks :|

I'm going to book my exam tomorrow, probably for June 6th.

That gives me 5 weeks.

My plan for those 5 weeks is as follows:

May 1st-12th: UW 2nd pass (3 blocks a day) + Conrad Fischer's 100 cases
May 13th: NBME form 13
May 14th-30th: DIT + a block of UW a day
May 31st-June 4th: Review FA on my own?
June 5th: Chill
June 6th: EXAM!
May 20th: NBME form 11
May 27th: NBME form 7
June 3rd: UWSA 2 (for a confidence boost hehe)

How does that plan sound?

Any and all feedback would be much appreciated!

Make sure you dont take any nbmes right before exam, like 1 week is a minimum. I did and freaked out...

Awesome plan.

btw, I remember you scored 28 pts less on the 6th form?
I tend to think that 6th underpredicts a lot

Hmmm..I am not sure what to tell you but you are reviewing FA at the end. If I were you, I would revise FA(and DIT-if you cant live without it) first and try to do UWORLD alongside FA instead of dedicating 12 days for UWorld. And If i were you, I would only do UWORLD for my weaker subjects. Then take an NBME. I would also augment my FA with NBME concepts and try to read it once more before the exam!
Secondly, NBME 13 is more like the exam and it is the toughest NBME. So, make sure you complete all the NBMES before u attempt NBME 13! (I took it 3 days before exam!)

Try to do the last two NBMEs(Preferably NBME 7 and 13) on the same day to simulate the exam experience! Good Luck

Dr.Nick! That's great news!! DIT really did deliver.

I agree with DocSikorski, awesome plan! During May 1-12 when you're doing UW 2nd pass 3 blocks/day, you'll have time left during the day. Schedule a weak topic that you'll work on per day. It might take only an hour per topic depending on the material you're going to use to strengthen it. Have all your weak areas covered before you go to DIT + UW in the last 2 weeks of May. In my opinion, if you work on these areas, your score can shoot up 10 or more points.

Good luck, Dr.Nick!!

We're on the same boat, same exact plans, schedules, and circumstances.

I also did a pre-DIT NBME, but failed. Gonna do a post-DIT SA in a few days, I hope i see a large improvement as well coz my exam is on the 30th of may!

Your plan sounds great, (FA+UW+DIT) over and over for the whole month before the exam will certainly get you way up.

Stick to it! Good luck!

So maybe i should switch around nbme 13 and nbme 11?

Thanks for the feedback guys

Pathoma is so good that you only need to go through it once or twice and you'll have your path down

Question hi

hi dr.nick ( hello everybody )

it's quite impressive that DIT helped you to boost your nbme score. it's quite clear that you'll recommend DIT course.

i have some questions:
did you do it online 2012 or 2011 version?
did you do only DIT with handout or used it along with FA?
how do you think are 21 days enough to do it to the end ?

Thanks in advance.

i did the 2011 version, downloaded videos.
I did follow along with the handout, this is key in my opinion. Also, i followed with FA.
it took me almost a month, but thats because I wasnt 100% focussed. I cant study insanely all day, I have to keep my mind cool and relaxed.
If you can go furiously and study 10-12 hrs a day, then 21 days will work for you.

Thanks for replay.
i'm not a geek either 8-9 hours are maximum amount of time to study for me.
i'll consider 1 month pure only for DIT. and would you recommend to read FA once prior to stariting DIT? does it have a big importance?

i would recommend you read it more than once
atleast 2,3x before DIT

guys, do you think I should incorporate WebPath into this plan?
Is it that helpful?
If so, how can I fit it into my schedule?

Try not to include too many resources to overwhelm yourself. If you're going to do DIT again along with UW 2nd pass, FA and NBME's then stick to those and master those sources!

You've already done Pathoma and your latest NBME is near 230 ... if you do DIT again and stick to FA, Im sure it will shoot up past 240!!

i don't think that's a good idea. as Hope2pass said adding smth at this point will not work efficiently. on my opinion web path isn't not essential for step 1. just keep moving forward in your plan and score > 230

Well in my personal opinion, I found NBME 12 to be easier than NBME 11. So, if you have not taken 12, then take that first and then take 11. And then 7 and 13 together. Dont forget to do the Fredd V 150 questions on the Usmle Website.
@Webpath- Try to give at least half and hr daily on it. Dont try to spend too much time on it. But I would recommend that. Also Dont forget to study CT scans and MRI scans.

Yea i was thinking of doing like an hour a day of WebPath but im not really sure how to utilize it. When I go on the site there's different ways you can look at it (systemic, general, anatomy-based). Should I do like a system a night or what?

And where can I study CT and MRI scans from? So far the only place ive encountered them is in Kaplan's anatomy book.
