Listening Need advice/critique regarding step 1 in June!!

Hey guys, I've been a silent observer on this form for about a month now and would appreciate any advice you guys could offer. I am taking my exam at the end of June and am just in beginning parts of my studying.
I took the school mandated CBSE after watching days 1-3, and the select biochem videos of DIT, and reading only through the behavioral, biochem, micro, immuno, path, pharm, cardio and endocrine sections in First Aid and got a 175 on it.
I am now on day 10 of DIT and have done only two blocks of uworld (random, timed, nontutor mode) with a measly average of 34% on both.

My plan was to go through DIT once to get a broad understanding of the high yield material and to annotate my first aid but now I am slowing down the DIT videos so I can attempt 1 block of uworld questions a day as well. Once I finish DIT, I was thinking of reading through BRS Physio, RR Goljan, audio transcripts for Goljan (listened to Goljan during my pathology class final about 2 months ago), first aid, and Kaplan's pharm flashcards for each organ system and then reading clinical microbiology made ridiculously simple for micro understanding. I was planning on doing DIT again maybe at 1.5x this time starting June 1st so I could finish in 15 days and that way I could repeat first aid twice and review my notes from uworld questions in the remaining 12 days till my exam.

When would you guys suggest I finish reading the external books by? Would you suggest different resources? Should I be listening to goljan again (took a long time to get through first time)?
What do you guys think of the plan? Please be as brutally honest as possible...no feelings are going to get hurt here lol
Also, which should I be taking any NBMEs when? (I was thinking about taking NBME 7 next week whenever I finish DIT so I could figure out the order to approach systems using external resources.) When should I take the uworld self assessment exams?

Thanks in advance for your time...one of the things I wish I had more of during this lovely step 1 study period haha

Keep doing what you are doing but make sure that you annotate FA all the time with whatever you are reading so that by the end of your prep, you hold FA only and no other book so as to avoid confusion.

Thanks a lot for the reply!

So far, I've been annotating first aid using DIT but I have not actually copied information from the DIT Study Guide into my first aid and so in the end, I think I may end up having to read from both the study guide and my annotated first aid :/

Anyone try that yet or have any advice on how to approach that?

Hey! Well, I also am testing Step 1 in June, and just started my second week in DIT. What I have been doing is as I go along in UW, I write anything I am unsure about or missed down into a separate spiral notebook which is devoted solely for UW. I annotate my DIT notes directly into FA. The reason I decided to do this was just so FA wouldn't become too cluttered after DIT notes (just a personal preference). I've been going back and forth with which order to do UW and DIT, but I've been doing qbanks for a while now, so I am just going to make sure I know each day's DIT lectures pretty well first and foremost, and then if time is leftover, try to squeeze in a block of UW.

After DIT is over, I will then have 3 weeks to do nothing but UW questions all day, writing down notes into my "UW notebook." At the end of each day after questions, I plan on going over my personalized UW notes. Hopefully that will allow me to go over U-world twice before the big day.

Don't let any practice scores bring you down. If you keep at it, you will surely see a gradual upswing in your scores. Just do whatever feels good- whatever makes you feel like you UNDERSTAND and know the material at the end of the day. I have heard that those with the fewest resources (FA + UW) tend to do the best. Keep at it and you will do great!

Hey thanks for sharing your method. I've actually been kind of doing the same- I got my first aid unbound and holepunched so I've been trying to right down the educational objectives and sometimes on a paper behind each corresponding section in first aid.

But yes, DIT is very mental draining- In the beginning, I was doing only DIT and making sure I did 3 lectures a day but that never gave me any time to actually review the material or read the first aid notes I was annotating so now I am attempting two videos a day and trying to squeeze in a uworld block a day.

Are you actually transcribing the "supplemental information" from the study guide into first aid as well or only what he says?

Well, I actually only have the 2010 videos, so I don't have any access to the notes. But, I would probably only add what he said into FA. But that just goes back to my personal preference of not getting FA too cluttered. So basically, after DIT, I just want to study from my personal DIT notes only, with occasional references to FA as needed.

I've even considered stopping DIT just to add an extra 3 weeks to purely more questions, but I figured devoting these next weeks 2 to DIT would pay off by having a better grip on the material before going deeper into UW. I'm thinking that the key for me is just questions, that's whats worked for MCAT, and that seems to be what's working so far for step (hopefully .

Ahh I see, I may actually have a copy of the 2010 manual... if you want, send me a pm with your email and I can send it if I find it (and if its small enough to send)

But yeah everyone seems to say Uworld is key which is why I decided to try a block a day...are you planning on doing questions twice or just reading your uworld spiral notebook for 2nd time? I highly doubt I'll have enough time for a second pass through at my current rate so I was wondering if reading notes is good enough or doing them again is essential

I would like to do both, if I have time. I just plan on getting up early, and doing about 2-3 blocks of UW/day. Hopefully I can finish the blocks with taking notes by evening, then after that, go over my notes for the rest of the night.
