Next time do not sit the exam until you score above 200 in online NBME.

Hey man, don't worry about what happened. You can cry but that's not going to change anything. Trust me, I've been through a failure and know how hard it is to get over it knowing you made a bad judgement call and went for the test when you shouldn't have. There could be many reasons for why you took the test or why you didn't perform well but nothing matters now. Just gotta look ahead at what's to be done next. Pick yourself up, the sooner the better because you don't want to give a big break in between as that will just prolong your step 1 exam. (I made that mistake too lol) Anyways, hope you read some of the experiences on this forum of the people who failed the exam as well and that will give you a good idea of what to do next.

Good luck and don't give up or be too harsh on yourself.

first of all u should not have sit in the exam with such scores......but now this is over.....

lets proceed forward......

don't worry and study hard this time ......

u need to get very high score .......to let PD's ignore the fact that u failed earlier.......

and as one of the members said don't sit in exam unless u cross 200 in NBME....I will say don't sit unless u cross 240+......

best of luck.......!!!

if you score 230+ 2nd time then you'll be fine
any less and it may be a problem

but you can study hard now and get 230+

take a couple days off to clear your mind and then start again and study hard.

Thank you really all of you for encouraging words I really need it and I am a women .

I believe in Allah and I know for sure he has planned something big and better for me. I won't give up and I really wanna suck it up and start again but right now m mind is just blank I really can't figure it out where to start.

Exam was harder then nbme and I know I shouldn't have sit for exam with low nbme marks but I couldn't take any more studies and sort of pressure from my parents and family but overall at the end they ve been supporting me alot to which is what is need right now

I did DIT twice with FA and I don't know how many times I read FA but definatly more then 5 times.

I just didn't make notes while goof thru Uworld may be that was it and I couldn't sleep the day before exam and to of it I took sleeping pill so I could better sleep idk may be these were all the excuses and Allah wanted me to pass with good score not just passing may be it wasn't the right time.

But I really do appreciate you all for all the courage and support. May Allah bless you and grant you to be a good future physian

Hi...I won't sugarcoat anything because we all know that failing this test is bad but if you ask everything is lost, then answer is a big NO. It's better to fail than getting a low score. I think ur material is fine n you can definitely add DIT n do lots of question. Just practice n don't rush this time until you score really well on NbME's.
Good luck n I am sure you will do great. Don't take a too long break so that u don't lose the momentum. I read this post from a guy here who failed n then for 241 within 3 months. So take courage, get drunk if u like alcohol this week end n get your act together from Monday. Just remember YOU CAN DO IT N ONLY YOU CAN DO IT.

I don't think watching Kaplan videos again is a good idea but honestly earth to his own. In your shoes, I would just read books n annotate from uworld n other qbanks

NEVER EVER GIVE UP. Your Success depends on your Will to persevere. Seems like you have done alot of things right in terms of prep. (apart from taking the exam with your NBME scores).

You stated you already took a Falcon program? Don't they give you a guaranteed option to return for free if you failed the exam?

Kaplan and Pass are great programs. I would suggest Pass because it might give you a different approach to the exam. Like some say the step 1 is more than just knowing your stuff, being a good test taker too is important.

Do contact both programs and explain your situation and see what their options are. Good luck.

I am not aware of any refunds from Falcon but i'll definatly find out..

for Kaplan i have all the videos and and lecture notes...i'm thinking of spending a month for kaplan LNS + vids and thinking of doing Pass program 4week program and i'm trying to ask them what are the options that i can take advantage of.:sorry:

No matter how much time it takes...DO NOT ENTER THE EXAM UNLESS YOU REACH A 240 ON YOUR NBME

Good luck

less praying and more studying this time.

you need atleast 230
don't enter the exam until your nbmes indicate such

i agree with your plan to take it before fasting, thats the smart thing to do.

Start with Kaplan, its the gold standard. ive heard mixed things about PASS, so i wouldnt risk it.

Really have to buckle down and study this time.
Learn, dont memorize.
Keep a clear mind and most importantly, dont stress. Stress will eat you alive if you let it.

It's not about how hard you can hit, its about how hard you can Get hit, and keep moving forward.

This is your moment to prove you can do what you set your mind to.
Your moment to prove people wrong.
To make "I will" into "I did".

Well i have taken pass program...i feel its onlly enough to just pass
it all depends on how your background basics are from medical college

for me i felt kaplan was better... since my basics weren't great...

pass has a different approach completely..its more integrated.....which didn't suit me as i needed to go through all subjects in more detail and through

then i took kaplan 7 week live..which was a lot better...but since u have already done kaplan and falcon..you can try pass...

bc/ while i was at pass..there was a lot of people who had failed step 1 before..there at the program..they keep track of you..they have tutoring and they tellu how frequently to give ur nbme etc

its worth a try..i think you should do it !!!!

Default Take your time

Hi step1success,

I have been following your post for some time now and I am really sorry you did not pass your exam...I have not failed the exam and have not taken it yet but I found myself in shoes where my online NBME score was less than 200 close to the exam and had to cancel the exam altogether and lose my money.

Sure there was pressure from friends and family and you have no idea how hard it was for me...I too am a woman...that was 3 months ago...but I found out that honestly, you need to take time to heal from this thing and get back on your feet...I know there is pressure again and all that but pressure is the thing that seemed to have gotten you burnt in the first place...it has taken me time to start studying again (well I had other projects to handle in that period)...

Take your time...get over it...do not drag it though but seriously take time to get over it and build your confidence again...otherwise you would be studying and doing it in vain...until you gain some level of confidence, you would not be able to focus so much to achieve your goal...

give yourself a time frame to study for the exam, lets say 4 months for example, and when you have built momentum (by studying a little every day) then you hit full throttle...

I would suggest you do the KLN and videos again but focus more on reading the material and understanding the concepts then do Kaplan Qbank along side the notes if you can then do UWorld with FA in the months leading to your exam...I think that will give you a better picture of it all...

...I hope I am of help in my own little way...

I am so sorry learning about your journey....honestly I believe this will be something you will leave behind and by that you will get all the confidence you will ever need. May ALLAH grants your wishes.amin.

But I still cant understand why everyone is asking you to get atleast 230/240 in nbmes? Is that what you also have in your mind? I am just thinking your case from my point of view. what about setting a goal of 220 in nbme s?? isnt that enough as a safety net??

with all the best wishes...

I'm very sorry, to hear that, but please don't give up. I just made a decision to not apply this year and to it next and the same with Step 1, I don't feel like ready.
But please can anybody give me a link to NMBE? Is it on nMBE.org website? I can't find it! Thank you!
