Question Effects of alcohol or water drinking on cell tonicity?

I have this question which I am confused about...A bit help will be appreciated.

what happens to the cells if someone drinks a lot of alcohol? As far I know the its a loss of hypotonic fluid and the cells will shrink...But I am confused about drinking a lot of pure water and drinking a lot of alcohol?

Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks

By the way and what is the mechanism.

In a normal individual consumed pure water will equilibrate between intracellular and extracellular compartments.

Alcohol (Ethanol, CH5OH)will not freely move into ICF, moreover, a "hangover" is a dehydration of neurons...
