A-Globus Pallidus-orange colored structure in the image immediately medial to putamen. B-Putamen which can be identified on coronal sections(either in gross specimen as above or on imaging studies) in a location immediately deep(medial) to the insula and lateral to the globus pallidus and internal capsule.Degenarated here due to Wilson's Disease. C-The Internal Capsule is the white matter structure that separates the globus pallidus and putamen from the caudate nucleus anteriorly and from the thalamus posteriorly on coronal sections. D-in its full 3-D Structure, the caudate nucleus is a curved or "c" shaped structure that can be identified in the inferolateral wall of the anterior horns of the lateral ventricle. However, only a small croos-section is visible in the image above next to the lateral ventricles. E-The Amygdala is a group of nuerons in the medial temporal lobe located adjacent to the hippocampus. The Amygdala can be identified in the image as circular grey matter structure in the medial temporal lobe immediately inferior to the globus pallidus and the putamen.
the main thing with the boards to think one step forward
if they will ask to identify caudate- think HD
amygdala-KBS (hypersalivation etc)
putamen-wilson
internal capsule-I guess relation to stroke and lateral striae arteries
D- Caudate Nucleus
C- Internal Capsule
B- Putaman
A- Globus Pallidus
E- Medulla Ambulagatta (bucky-Klovery Syndrome- How ever you spell it (hyper sexual, puts things in their mouth))
