So basically .. 35 blocks in the next 14 days ?

It's a good goal if you can stick to it! Is this your first time going over UW ? Are you taking notes along with it and reviewing all the right and wrong answers or just the wrong answers? Hope you do score well on these! Good luck!

Have you done 2.5 blocks in a day yet? Do you know how long that will take you?

well i know it may sound weird but i can try..yeah itz my first time with UW..i tried with random untimed tutor mode n it took me looootttt of time going thru all .writing down notes etc..n m still left with 82% to do n my subscription ends on 28 may ..so i wanna finish it before that ...i annotate on my FA those points only which i feel i havn't came across ever..rest everything is there n i kinda review my knowledge with brain teasers on UW ...i will start from tommorrow my 2.5 block strategy ..actually i will do in timed mode n review at the end of day..do u guys suggest any modification???...kinda breathing space...is my schedule too hectic?..i have no choice ..i already extended my elig period..n m a big procrastinator ..donno how far itz gonna work..hope for best..i will update once m done with it tommorrow ..till then stay tuned

Hey don't be so discouraged. It's good that you started in Timed mode because now can improve on your timing well in time.
Just keep at it. Don't give up. It's a new schedule ina day or two you'll be more used to it.

Why don't you sit and plan the number of hours you are ready to dedicate to each subject per day? e.g. 8am -9am Pharm video, 905am - 1005am I block timed test in UW, 1010am -1110am physio video, 1115am - 1215am review 15 questions UW, etc.. It will break the monotony and cover something of everything.

Start taking short 5min breaks every hour. I realized that is more efficient than studying continuously for 2-3hours.

Hope you find it useful. Now say cheese !

Oh c'mon! Don't give up.
It does take time. But look at it this way. It's a torture positively and the earlier you can give your Step 1 the earlier this torture gets over.
Think of all the things you will miss out on and all the things that depend on this exam for you. They should motivate you.
I've seen this forum and a lot of people who got really good score, like 250+ could do only 60-70% of their QBanks. So don't get so upset about it. Just do what you can do and have faith.
It's just 3 days since you started your schedule. Give a couple of more days & you won't be missing out on those 4 questions as well .

Don't say such things. I might have to take you into protective custody . You are feeling low because you haven't been keeping well. No toil is ever wasted and especially learning is never lost.

I have no turning back. It is more Desperation than Motivation.

Good idea to do just one thing than divide your attention among many things. You must be bored of doing the same thing. So finish whatever you can of UW and then take a subscription of something else.

Why don't you try DIT after this? People are finding it quite helpful. I saw some of the videos, it really fast paces your study & forces you to study about 6hrs everyday even if you don't want to and there's a lot of funny multimedia.

You'll feel better once you are fully healthy again. So get well soon!
Don't bother about deadlines, bother about what's at hand on that day.

Keep posting.
P.S. One reason why I do something everyday is to post daily to this forum.

Listening

dont bite more than you can chew else you will be choked.

slow and steady wins the race my dear

i was once in your position and still find my self making same mistakes all over again & again sometimes

some nights i stay awake and draw this new wonderful timetable;at 1st it looks good and i feel like yeah atlast i got the code to destroying this exam but when morning comes and i realise mennnn there is no way i can accomplish this nice lovely schedule in a day i loose another whole day trying to modify it.
its a terrible visious cycle and u keep on doing more harm than good to yourself just in a bid to COVER A LOT IN SUCH A LITTLE TIME THAT U END UP DOING NOTTING.

my dear, this race is not for the swift but perseverance and patience will take us all to the finish line.

Hey man, Don't give up! Don't let one test push you around. Don't let the stress get to you. So what if you can't stick to a schedule...go read the threads where ppl make a schedule and almost everyone ends up lacking behind! It's ok! There are days when you don't or no matter how much you try, you just can't get yourself to study. And then there are days when you get more than what you expected to get done! Its all up and down and thick n thin. Just keep pushing through. Don't stop. You can slow your roll, but don't give up completely. You have 3 months. Stick to limited sources, limited number of books and ONE qbank. 3 months, make sure to do that qbank twice (whether its UW or kaplan) When you don't feel like doing questions, read! If you don;t feel like reading then watch a video. Change things up and see what works best. Don't feel helpless, its not the end of the world. Everyone goes through it and you gotta tell yourself that you're brave! You have the courage and endurance to keep going without giving up till you reach your goal of success. Think about the outcome - once you make it, that is it!

Take it from my personal experience - I've failed it once, was kinda depressed n sh!t for a while but then you pick yourself up and move on. Sh!t happens but there's a lot more to life. You cant let one failure define your life. No matter what anyone says.

Take a day or two off or this whole week if you need. Go out, enjoy a little bit, don't stress, chill with your family and friends. Wake up in the morning, look at yourself in the mirror and talk to yourself - Tell yourself you can do this, many have done it before you and many will do it after.

At the end of it all, its just a phase that everyone goes through. It can either make or break you. It all depends on how you face it, how you deal with the situation. What's there to be scared of ... Nothing.

Here's an idea: Go to usmle.org and talk sh!t to the website . That's you facing usmle in the face and telling it that it can't push you down. That you0 will not and cannot end your life because of the stupid effing USMLE! Talk back to it!!

Just 3-4 months man, then you're free! Look at the bigger picture, look at the reward that's waiting at the end of it all - whether it be girls, money, personal satisfaction, pride, or just revenge from the universe! lol

Good luck and BE HAPPY

(Man, I went all out there...lol)

Default Have you gone crazy???!!

You give a shocker every time you come online.
I'm back home & on skype all the time now so call me whenever you feel like.
I have been traveling & my schedule has been going bust over & over again. & didn't have a regular net connection.

Anyways, I don't think you should worry so much about wasting hubby's money. He's supposed to be your provider if he married you. I don't think he is the one who's worried about it. You are letting other things distract you.

Stop thinking about everything else. I deactivated my facebook account, removed all messengers except Skype from my computer, created a new ID on skype which I use only for this forum & don't have any of my family or friends on these lists.
You have to give these up for just the next 3months. Then you can do all the other things that you want to.

Tell me what materials you have read so far. I'll help you with your schedule making but I can't help you if you keep wallowing in self pity. You are a doctor, so much better off than majority of people out there. Give yourself the respect you deserve.

Dark chocolate is what got me going today finally I took my date in Sep & somehow it got to me Even me!! LOL! So.. I was feeling so low that things could only look up from there.
I tried to listen Goljan as well. I have it on my IPod & I tried to listen when I go for my daily exercise. But I'm often distracted. There is no denying that he is good but I did Day 1 in >2weeks & then gave up because I was not retaining anything.

Good to see you are back & making good progress. We will make it definitely. Don't worry!

Hail Dark Chocolate!
