Drug Aspirin & Clopidogrel Side Effects

A 78-year-old male had a stent placement and 10 years history using aspirin for myocardial infartion, today goes to see the doctor about a weakness and faint. The doctor decides to give him a prescription of clopidogrel, and the patient insists about the aspirin. After the doctor explains to him why he needs to switch to clopidogrel, the patient stay in accord. Why the doctor can not use aspirin and clopidogrel together in this patient?


A) Gastric ulcer
B) Risk of thrombosis
C) Hemorrhage
D) Mouth ulcers
E) Thrombocytopenia

I believe it clopidgral causes neutropenia....

id go with hemorrhage too.

Ticlopidine is more likely to cause neutropenia

plavix + asprin increases the risk of hemmorhage particularly in the GIT

B) Risk of thrombosis
C) Hemorrhage: Using Clopidogrel + Asprin increases the risk of hemmorhage particularly in the GIT (correct answer)
D) Mouth ulcers: Clopidogrel only
E) Thrombocytopenia: Abciximab
