Stats Epidemiology: How to calculate Incidence?

sometimes near exam we got stuck in stupid concepts we know since early studying

for incidence.
suppose we have population of 1000 and there are 200 patients have rheumatoid arthritis , this year we have 40 new cases with rheumatoid arthritis , so in this case what is the incidence ????

incidence is 40 new cases / the 800 people at risk of developing a new case

hence the incidence is 0.05

40/(1000-200)= 40/800
