Rheumatology/Orthopedics Osteoarthritis and Inactivity

in context of OA, goljan uncle writes..

b. Joint stiffness increases after inactivity in OA...eg...
1) Waking up in morning
2) After sitting
3) Aggravated by activity

is this correct ?

i thought rest improves OA...

osteoarthritis increases in pain after use
rheumatoid arthritis decreases in pain after use.

Hahah i had the same doubt as you, quoting uptodate:

The principal symptom associated with OA is pain, which is typically exacerbated by activity and relieved by rest. With more advanced disease, pain may be noted with progressively less activity, eventually occurring at rest and at night.

So goljan isn't essentially wrong as osteoarthritis may occur after inactivity in advanced stages but in RR it is written as if inactivity causes pain
